Does any body know what the laws are for towing now days? I want to tow my escort on a trailer, and was hoping to use my bmw e46 328 salon. Is this legal, i have heard a few rumours but not sure whats true, I understand there is a weight limit depending on what your towing with, is this right?? Also some one said to me your not aloud to tow with low profile tyres, is this right???

Well, i have to settle for second best. Turbo it is then ...
samcos replied to sambo's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Sure it will be fine sam, and look on the bright side if a nice n/a engine comes up after you hav bought a turbo one, i can buy it think its back to pinto for me, untill the funds allow anything else ( damm the credit crunch! ) -
we pay about £250 for camping and race tickets, you can get this alot cheaper but the area we stay is run by a proper motorsport events company, they lay on dinner and breakfast, supply showers and toilets, its worth paying a bit more as we stay for 5 days. They also have a huge tent with big tele etc , and sell cheap i can give the details of these organisers to anyone who is interested.

Have to agree with you rustypup, modern lemans is a bit like that but everyone seems to be in good spirit, and have a great time. will def do the classic next time though it wasnt my escort in 2007, went in my m3 that year ( which was boring ) its all about old skool!
-
im going next year, will be my 6th year, my mates taking his mk1 cortina, and another his 100e and of course my escort after it blew to bits over there this year we all drive down on the thurs before the race anyone want to join us that would be cool. the hardest thing is all getting the same ferry as they get booked up very quikly that week, we are booking the ferry next month.
-
Well chaps, i have finally decided it has to be n/a cossie for the mk1 i have started to collect a few bits so far i have #New peddle box with hydrolic clutch set up #cosworth 205 block #cosworth rods #oil spray bar #oil pump #waterpump #( soon hopefully a head which is bare at the mo) Still got tuns of bits to get, but if anyone as any advise on what to get and where to get them from this would be a good help, its gonna be a slow build as time and money are limited but ill get there in the end
-
hey sambo im in the same situation as u want the same sort of power and def keep in n/a, not really sure what to go for without spending silly silly money, been advised that cossie is better than duratec as costs about the same to build and is worth more as a re sale engine.. you should keep your head and build up a stronger bottom end let me know any good suggestions you get, good luck bud.....

not sure why they came out small, done them through photobucket anyone know how to make them bigger?
-
A few pics from the weeked, unfortunatly i didnt see any more osf there, although the escort got so much attention
-
Yeh she will be back with more power, just gotta decide what route to go, im thinking n/a cossie of duratec. gonna take a lot of thinking... lol oli, the poor old girl was flat out all the way there and back trying to keep up with cossies and evos on the motorway is not a easy task.. schott i didnt see you, but i spent a bit of time on the circuit in mates cars, hopefully yours will be ready for next year then? im already looking forward to that.

Did anybody else go to le mans at the weekend? I got back this afternoon as usual it was a brilliant weekend, i drove the escort all the way there with no problems, took it on part of the track after the race on sunday, done loads of burnouts in the town, which went down really well with the crowd, But then unfortunatly half way home yesterday afternoon, i ended up with a large hole in the side of the block, in the bottom and in the side of the sump so it was a night in a hotel and 4 recovery trucks later the car made it back to my garage Ill sort out some pics to follow.....

hey paul he spent nearly 2 hours on the car and it cost me £117 i thought that was very resonable, they are also very helpfull with any advice needed. Hey sam, no they didnt do a power run before but to be honest it was not running well at all. they adjusted the cam timing i think by 2 degrees, and changed the jets in the carbs to.
-
i managed to pick up a new exhaust manifold mon afternoon from rally design ( alot cheaper than anywhere else i could find ) I then fitted it tues morning and took a trip to sanspeed.... i had a full set up, engine timing carb balancing carb re jetting cam timing after all this the car made 165bhp at the fly wheel and 142 bhp at the wheels... I was really happy with this the guy done a great job and the car runs so much better now, highly recomend sanspeed.
-
i need to get a new 4 branch manifold for my pinto engine, the old one has gone all brittle and fallen apart, could be to do with the fact it was heat wrapped. Can anyone recomend a good manifold to get and where to get it from??
-
where bouts are you bomber1? think im gonna cancel tues for a later date and sorce a new one. hey sam i was taking it to sanspeed, and still will once i have got a new manifold. after reading that post im sure it was the heat wrap that caused the problem, its gone in loads of places, just gone realy brittle, not iven poss to weld it
-
If anyone has a 4 branch exhaust manifold to fit a pinto in a mk1 escort for sale, i need one asap, have the car booked in for a full set up on tues, and have just discovered mine in gone past repair

Panhard rod.......... Do I or don't I ?
samcos replied to X FLOW EDDY's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
im thinking of fitting a panhard to mine to, seems that the axle keeps moving itself to the offside, for some reason, could it be that the u bolts need replacing, someone told me they were stretch bolts, maybe they have over stretched??
