Ta, you should have come to the Ace, there was another Granny there too!

Be prepared to get pulled a lot then, one of out lutons has never been white in our hands, yet twice in two weeks we had the police tell us it's down at the DVLA as white (it's not, out V5 says blue). Another one left Ford in yellow, then was white, we resprayed it blue and yet have still been told it's yellow! If we have changed the V5, what more can you do?

Can't totally agree about the AA (and the RAC), it took me a total of 12 hours to get home, from the engine going bang to stepping through my front door at 3am. They had some kind of computer system failure, and never even ke[pt in touch with me. In the end it was the patrolman who took me off the M40 that kept me informed, god bless him. It's all down to the patrolmen in the end, some are prepared to get thier hands dirty, some just want to get you towed away. The final straw in the last fiasco was the recovery driver made the dogs stay in the van, and one of em was freaked out at moving without being driven, and eat the drivers seat.

I totally agree with you mate and in the good old days thats what we would do, but now with health and safety crap and people ready and willing to sue your arse off you have to play by the rules. Sad but true I'm afraid Good old days?? I am talking about last month! Was recovered off the M40 by the AA (Di engine stuffed), a Mk2 XLWB luton, and I was loaded. It was a tilt and slide, but my point is if it can be winched on to the truck, it can be towed. It doesn't have a towing eye BTW, and I am not conviced even the Mk6 does either. I know the Mk5s I have seen don't. When was the last time you ever saw a 7.5 T truck or bigger with a towing eye? They just get specked with the appropriately sized spec lift.

Sounds like a financial right off, surely you can put it back on the road? What's that ringing sound I hear??

Believe it or not 'multi' is a legitimate option. I applied for the V5 for the SWB Mk1 transit when we got her. To keep it simple, I put the 'as bought' colour (white) on the application, but by the time she got to test she was navy blue. We got a bizarre letter from the DVLA saying there was a discrepancy between the V5 and the MOT cert. With it was a form, complete with the hilarious question "what is the number on the front?" and "what is the number on the back?" (tempting to put 2 different ones down, but why make my life harder?), and a selection of colour options to circle, one of which was 'multi'. Also, a mate on ours had a Mk5 hi cube transit that he had practiced spraying on so many times he had it registered as multi.

Wish we had come to this, had to wake up the Mk1 SWB transit ex camper, we fitted a new battery then the driver's mirror came off in Gary's hand. By the time we sorted it it was getting late, so went to the Ace.

WTF is that all about the age of a car and towing? What has that got to do with it? Mk1 and 2 transits (with the exception of the minibus) have no towing eye, you just hook up to the beam axle. It manages to hold up the wieght of a fully loaded van, so is fine for towing from, either that or the spring hanger. None of our vans are under 20 years old, yet the ones I have been recovered with have all been towed that way. After all, if they can't hook it up to the winch, what would they do? If it can be winched, it can be towed.

Here you go, waiting to go, waiting for her big moment as a plain clothes Police car (which will prob be about 10 secs!) wearing a borrowed plate, as Clubbed is set in 1983.....

Ta lotusless, I think we are taking the camper reversion to the Ace tomorrow, and maybe the Granny! Are you coming?

We have room for 6 off street, 5 on permits on street, some are out working (delivering) and at any one time there will be one in the workshop out of test or broken! The granny was bought for the Film 'Clubbed' set in the 80s, couldn't find a dark one at the time to rent off a private owner, but she's all paid for so it's like getting a car for free!

Me and the other half have a bit of a thing about old transits, totaling over 20 so far. We took our latest but one to the Ace Cafe on the 15th, a 1978 Mk1 transit ambulance. Some of you that were there then might have noticed her there! This one - We also have the Mk2 LWB that was driven by Richard Hammond on Top gear for the transit's 40th birthday, and the minibus that was in History Boys (that was on BBC2 last saturday), also a Mk1 SWB transit that was reverted back from a pop top camper A couple of Mk2 ambies too A luton or two (oh alright eight!) which we still work commercially and use for blocking, this is the biggest Oh, and a Mk2 granny Ghia!

Yep, do have pics but as yet can't post them mate! She's like yours (mineral blue Ghia) on a B plate but less blingin! If you make it to the Ace I think we will bring her along.
