The misses made a mistake this morning and said it´s your day today what are we doing...i said i´m not to sure what you´re up to love but i´m off out into the garage! :D Got to get the Capri ready so that i can come over next weekend.... might just manage ein Bier or two this evening though!

They are a fantastic engine as they're also very light being all alloy, however it has to be said they are indeed very expensive to rebuild. Being so rare most of the parts cost and arm and a leg, a set of four cams will be around £2500 and just the main and big end bearings will set you back £500 odd. Thank Christ mine didn't need cams eh? 2500 Quid...bloody hell mate, the whole car including the restauration and possible V8 won´t cost that much...! It's because they have to be custom made, there wasn't many of the cars they were installed in made so the demand is fairly low. ..probably sounded good though!

You can pick up cheap V8´s over here but they´re all 4wd, most off them have only 250bhp and have all been thrashed within an inch of there lives.....believe me i used to have one!

Not a bad idea but probably way out of my (nearly non existant) budget!

I´ve heard a lot of good things about these engines...i think the electrics could be a bit of a pain though....

I know what you mean mate but i´m bloody useless when it comes to engines..it doesn´t have to be plug and play but whacking on turbos, changing heads or whatever is not going to happen......i´ll leave that up to you lot!!!

I´ve just about finished prepping the bodywork on the Capri and i´ll be over next week to get some decent paint on it. Now in order to get it registered over here i´ll have to put all the original running gear back in but once all the formalities are sorted i´d like to bin the V6 boat anchor and have some fun. I´d bought a 24V Cossi Scorpio and was going to fit that but my van decided to blow it´s engine this summer so the 24V is going in there..... If it´s expensive it´s not an option, this is not a cheque book restauration (she wouldn´t give it to me! ) i´m not into engine tuning as I haven´t got the foggiest but wouldn´nt mind shoehorning something different in there. Autobox is not a problem either.... Lexus any good? Volvo/Saab Turbo? BMW V8? Or should i just drop a 302 in there... What do you guys think, out of the box 300 BHP for the Capri? Cheers, Dave

More useless information. I was booked on the the Herald of free Enterprise back in 1987 but didn´t make it as i had to work late..... I was lucky a couple of mates wern´t though! I have problems with heights but still managed (god knows how) to jump out of a plane back when i was in the Army.!
