  1. Luckily over here you don't see many osf's on the Oval, there's been a couple of Cappers and the odd Granada but mostly it's Sierras. Oldest thing I raced when I used to do it was an old Rover SD1, which I'm surprised it didn't snap when I loaded it on the trailer.....talk about rust
  2. Not a fan of blue lights, they make me nervous.......
  3. Anyone got an idea on what the actual weight of a cross flow engine is? I've got to look into shipping one off the Isle of Man into the UK, shipping company wants to know the weight, unfortunately I don't have a set of cow sclaes to hand.....
  4. No worries, have found the answer somewhere else..... looks like I'd best don my best hitching thumb for now....
  5. My xflowed mk1 currently runs an Inertia type starter motor, which has literally stopped working today, leaving me stranded at work until a push turns up later. Now I've got a replacement sorted, but I'm not expecting it to be here until next week, which is obviously no good in the meantime. Thing is, I've also got a pre-engaged starter at home from a Mk2 running a 1.1 xflow, will this work if I replace it for now until the inertia turns up? Or is it a totally different beast requiring different flywheels and such?
  6. Beats those silly cats that Jaguar put on the front of their cars.....
  7. It's running 2.8i struts on the front and 2" lowering blocks with single leafs on the rear. Sits quite nice although I do get some arch rubbing on the front tyres, despite them being rolled.
  8. Come on lads, put the toys back in the pram.... To me £600 is a lot of money, but to be brutally honest I'd still buy these if I was guarenteed that the wings were going to be a perfect fit. Nowt worse that getting an aftermarket wing to find out the fit's total shite.
  9. Not sure where to put this, or even if it's been posted before (didn't see anything on the search) but I've just come across an Excel spreadsheet showing (what seems to be) all the Ford gearbox's and ratios. There's a table where if you put the ratios in for the gearing (and put the correct diff ratio in) it calcs what mph you're achieving at certain revs. Also makes an allowance for wheel size and tyre size. Worth checking out if you've not come across it before. Here's the link (will go straight to a download tab thingy): http://unibrain.org/motorsports/caterham/upgrades/transmission/gearing.xls
  10. Offers till stands dude
  11. Cheers guys, have to admit I absolutely love driving it, any excuse and I'm out the house tootling around. Mark, spotted the Estate a few weeks back next to Lord St car park, have to admit I did a fair bit of rubber necking as I went past, looks mint. Gareth, yes it's the same one Jamie was selling, and the drive back from Croydon was most interesting....
  12. Thought I'd finally throw my Mk1 up seems as it's been a while since I joined now. Spec is 1.6 x-flow, 2.8 struts, 2" blocks on the rear with single leaf springs, 4 spoke Revolutions. and M16 calipers. Have yet to fit a set of cross drilled discs, unless I bolt the Princess calipers on in which case I'll have to go vented... Photo's taken just after replacing the rear springs, so looking a little high in the first few photies.... Bottom pic taken fresh this morning....
  13. £450 you say? Much for girlies to do out there while I'm *ahem* shopping.... *Plots holiday to Malta for next year*
  14. Tell you what, if you pay for it I'll go and get it for you. Bear in mind though that I'll need to spend at least 3 days in Rome at a 5* hotel so I can pass it off as my wifes birthday present.....
  15. Never had an OSF before now, only thing that came close was a Chavette rally car with Pinto engine. Sadly I scrapped that, a move that still today I kick myself about. Big bro has had a few mind, remember about 15 years ago he built a Mk1 rally car from scratch with a Cossie engine in, 5 linked, coliovers the full schebang. Then he sold it as he couldn't get anyone to wire it up, no one on the Island had any experience with the Cossie motor so in the end he sold it for....wait for it.... £3000...
  16. Welcome to the forum Mr Skinner ('tis Marshall btw)
  17. Me neither, not bad considering the owner/driver is only 18 years old....
  18. It was a superb event this year with 166 entries, no less than 35 of them being OSF Just a shame some friends of mine wrote off their Hillman Avenger in a horrific crash.
  19. So Rally Isle of Man has just been and passed, and as usual I spent most of my time in the service area furrowing under the bonnet of my brother in-laws Nova. Anyway's as usual when he's off doing the last stages of the day I get a chance to sit at the Grandstand and watch the cars coming over the line for the finish then line up for the ramp at the end. Just made it in time for the Historics and managed to take this piccie. Just wish I'd had a proper camera instead of my phone...
  20. Got to say I've never knocked on anyone's door before, but after having my Mk1 for literally 3 weeks and 1 day I've already had two people turn up to my work place and ask if I'd fancy swapping cars (Ford Focus & Sierra Cosworth). The 4th day I owned the car I had a guy come into the Chinese when I was having a meal with the missus, and asked if it was for sale......
