  1. it looks like an essex bellhousing to me but the only one ive got to compare it to is in the engine bay a mate of mine also thought it could be a conversion too i just wondered if there was an essex/type5 motor running a hydraulic clutch would just be easier for me to find the correct master cylinder for it no probs stooby, ill take a pic of the release arm later on when i disappear to the garage
  2. i picked up this gearbox last week, and didnt have a proper look till tonight i thought all old fords used a cable operated clutch? a hydraulic clutch would be nice as im going to buy an AP racing clutch very soon has anyone done a hydraulic conversion? and what ford would this gbox be from? ive had the inspection covers off and it all looks in good nick bloody heavy! sorry danny, you wasnt being a pussy is there anywhere left that reconditions or uprates type5`s ??
  3. one of my mates runs a 400bhp through a salisbury (english) axle with uprated shafts and a diff locker with no probs
  4. feel for ya buddy hope somehow you can save it

  6. a youthful friend of mine went from novas and corsas to a bmw E30 it lasted for 2weeks before he wrote it off
  7. about 750-800bhp now with the v8s and no TC plus the worlds most sticky tyres oh and 19000rpms very funny to see massa throwing the car off the road wheel spinning more times than a chav in a RWD good point vibrating cake and cheers to the big bhp guys for the input keep it coming
  8. im making a pair of anti tramp bars at the moment, hopefully these will do the job for the strip as theyve been highly recommended not sure ive got the fabrication skills for 4links ive got uprated single leafs with avo adjustable shocks, for 1/4 lowest setting on shocks works well and the rear squats nice what size rear wheels and tyres have you got?
  9. what suspension setup and tyres do you run?
  10. the problem ive found with turbos in the past is unless youve got a pukka exhaust system there all or nothing im using a wizards of nos nitrous system, using their progressive controllers the power can be adjusted for each gear too ive ran using a 50shot and i was grinning like an idiot, with the present system i could run 300bhp (150 na & 150nos) the next step is an extra 150bhp
  11. alex im in full agreement with you, but having a milkfloat leave you at the lights cuz the tyres are melting isnt fun and you dont need mega power to spin the wheels and go sideways.....it does help though what im taking about is usable power, so you dont have to be scared when the fun pedal is pressed
  12. as in Jeff Harris, he was going down with his son was going to drop off some ££ for a gearbox i went last year, and it was a great event
  13. Saw the vid this morning of the 600bhp mk2 escort Im sure in top gear over 100mph is goes like stink, but it seems not to be able to get there due to monster wheel spin So how much power is usable? My thoughts are 400bhp with the right suspension and LSD would be about the limit
  14. i was gonna pop down today to say hello to Jeff the garage had to win as its too messy to get the capri in
  15. im tidying the garage now too 2 bin bags full of parts boxs, think theres another 2 to go then its collecting up the rust thats been cut off, alteast 1 bag there after all the cleaning i need to move the work bench, tool chests and sofa round so the capri can have more space would be nice to install the 3disc mini system on the wall i got off ebay for a fiva too now where to put the fridge
  16. bigger wheels and slicks required me thinks
  17. more please, awesome racing
  18. did this guy have dark glasses on as he had a labrador??? maybe the dog is an old skool ford fan and wanted a better look? if old fords were meant to be steered with the front wheels they`d have come with power steering
  19. i was going to say if youve got the cills black leave um, but you HAVE!!! lol id tidy it up cuz its not a nice tidy line at the mo, but i think it will grow on you
  20. NEVER say its too hot in england, youve cursed us all to a week of rain now besides what the hell are you doing out of bed on a sunday at such an ungodly time

thats f**kin awesome i love estates
  24. fingers crossed lol tbh a 50shot on an essex is nothing, i reckon a stock block prepared right will take 200shot
  25. it rained and even hailed a bit lol with 13gallons in the tank, wheel spin in 2nd gear 15.5sec also had major issues with the gearbox not wanting to go into 3rd gear too gonna check the gearbox oil level this week, never looked since i bought the car opps all in all a good learning experience, major thing to remember when using nos is to weigh the bottle the car runs like shite with an empty nos bottle, as i found out
