duno about the diagram, it was sent to me to help out been told you have to pull the drive shafts, remove the rear cover, undo the 4bolts (2either side) to release the bearings and the diff falls out so its the same as the atlas to remove the diff?? and yes, its going to be a monster nos install 150bhp system at the moment once testing is completed its going upto 350bhp and beyond
-
have you got the right kit for your car? might be better to find out before you redrill it to suit
-
will do its quite heavy, but then ive not dropped the atlas yet so it maybe the same?? everything ive heard about it is good, been told its got a rep as a budget drag axle from "back in the day" also if you check any ford mag youll find a lot of the parts listed for the english axle are shown as for english/salisbury so they must be atleast closely related cwps are available from the stock 3.9:1 to over 5:1 heres the exploded diagram for the salisbury hope this explains what i cant lol
-
ive been given a salisbury axle off an mgb its got a 3.9cwp so allows for the 265/50/15s extra rolling radius, narrower by 6inchs so it should pull the wide wheels back inside the archs
-
im talking about converting to 18splines from 16spines when using the stock open diff with a Phantom diff locker so as its the stock diff its possibly different and not as complicated? ive just ordered a diff lock from Cambridge Motorsport Parts so ill be able to comment on the install soon
-
cant you just change the sidegears? thats what my mate with the mgb did when he went to 18splines
-
Didn't seem to with the Anglia axles from the reputation of them being stronger. okis, but ive read the opposite
-
my carb runs at 6-7psi so id say it about right, beside the needle valves on the floats should stop fuel into the float chambers when they fill so as long as the fuel pressure is high enough to give enough flow to the carbs there shouldnt be a prob id have thought?
-
but isnt shorting the shafts what made the baby atlas weak compaired to the full width version?
-
i think hes got 18spines now yeah, with the accompanying sidegears ive gone with salisbury/english instead of using the atlas axle already fitted due to the parts being cheaper and its quite a bit narrower than the atlas it comes in useful when running 265 rubber and wanting to stay within the stock archs within oldskool drag racing circles its seen as a very cheap and strong axle

ive got a mate with a mgb 4.6litre v8 running 350bhp with nos hes still using a salisbury axle which as far as i know, is the same as the english? its got a phantom gripper locker fitted, around 5:1 cwp and drag tyres until he reached 300bhp he had no half shaft issues (16spline) he never broke one, but found after a year of drag strip meets it had twisted slightly at the hub end hes now fitted uprated halfshafts and has had no further axle problems im now going this route and have a salisbury axle wating to go onto the capri ive also ordered a phantom gripper locker and will be running 265/50/15 road tyres on 15x9j revolution 5spokes
-
pity ive just set fire to my finger tips when welding, bloody waxoil flames if i can get my hand out the bowl of water ill post a pic of them on
-
10"inch wide tyres anyone???? placed them next to the existing wheels on the car yesterday and believe it or not they fit!!!!!!!! atleast 1inch over clearance to the arch the whole way round due to longer homemade droplinks that should increase once fitted cuz the existing tyres are much smaller ill try and get some pics on later fitted to the car
-
thats as tasty as a hobnob yum yum yum
-
know this might be heresy but...... i think were all getting screwed by quaife and £400 for a 2nd hand zf is taking the piss lucky for me ive been given a salisbury, which #1 is a strong as a brick shithouse #2 you can get a diff locker brand new for £230 from the uk for it #3 comes as stock with a 3.9:1 cwp i know for track use the ATB diff is better, but for hooligan behavour and drag strip a diff locker does the job 100%

mrmoo replied to Adam's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
shot up the m6 at 5800rpms in top, flying past all bmws and mercs by an extra 50mph! got lots of shocked looks the sound of essex v6 through an ashley zaust got their attention though it might have been due to pob having his head out the window making 70s cop car woooo woooo woooo sounds -
no probs eckie

no its bugger all to be honest i had to do it to my mk1 escort when the bladder bag ripped just get any small electric washer bottle, mount on bulkhead and connect to pipes to squirters pickup a 12v from the ignition switch with an inline 2amp fuse to a switch, then from the switch direct to the pump motor the other connection on the pump motor can just be earthed to the chassis the bottle can be fitted anywhere cuz the electric pump has loads of pressure, so it could fit fitted in the boot to help weight balance i know its an easy job to fit an electric bottle and pump, ive even got one in the shed just wanna keep the floor mount manual pump cuz it love its retroness
-
okis, so its likey to be a fault with the foot pump
-
the lid doesnt make a seal cuz its cracked and has broken sorry if i didnt make that clear so im guessing i need to have the water bottle air tight?
-
the only way im converting to electric is if i can get a switch mounted in the old floor pump id like to get the stock system working really
-
im goin to get the rear seats out and look for seat belt mounting points soon patching rust and sorting out mot work is more important at the mo ive got rear celica seat belts im going to try and fit but thanks for the thought, ill post up a new thread if theres probs
-
hi all the windscreen washers stopped working a few months ago and i need to sort them for the mot the bottle lid has cracked and so doesnt make an air tight seal when the pump is pressed on the floor i can hear a hiss so it sounds like thats working cheers chris
