, my clutch slave cylinder went 3 days after getting it, it took the escort 3 years to snap its cable! lol, but the new part only cost £9.99 off ebay, , i was having a play in it last night on a round about, and i defo need a quicker rack on it, my arms were killing!! i wonder if i can graft a mk2 escort quick rack onto it??? hhhmmmmm??

i got confused by the badge too, but bmw is still doing it now, the newish 316ti'3 are actually 1.8's, lol, bloody germans, hahaha. i was gonna lower it and do a few little bits but i've been told im gettin the escort back out of the bodyshop around xmas so im not spending anything on the bmw, but im still well chuffed with it, lovely.

well, having wanted one for a while i got myself an old bmw E30 316, and its a minter! its the 1.8 carb, 2 door, totally original, 2 owners from new (father and son), 66,000 miles, have all MOT's to prove it too, every bit of history is wth the car, including the bill of sale for £11,500!! it came with 12 months test and 12 months tax (which is £190) i still have the mk2 escort tho, could never give that up, so, what do u lads think? oh yeah, it only cost £575!!

i've heard 1 story of a cock up they made but they were very quick at putting it right, but, as in life, not everyone has the same experience, but i'm just bloody lucky with cars,

having hunted around my local parts companies i decided to try H&H Ignition, having ran 1 of their sports packs on my mk2 escort for the past 2 years, i'm very impressed with the quality of stuff from them, so i rang up and ordered a dizzy cap and rev limiting rotor arm from them (for my 1988 bmw, don't hate me , i still have the escort, honest ), and this is the best bit, INCLUDING vat and delivery....£21!!!! Dizzy cap was £6+vat rev limiting rotor arm with 6k limit £9.95+vat my local parts places wanted £15 just for the cap!! so, as you can tell, i'd highly recomend H&H, i'm well chuffed!! just thought i'd share that with you chaps on here.

Some clown bent my car on Sunday!!
dawesy1700 replied to Mick The Cabbie's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
i had a clown whack the near side rear quarter of my mk2 3 years ago on a round about, he said, and i quote, "i thought you were going straight on, i didn't see any indicators flashing on your car", i replied with "well you wouldn't, cause you crashed into the side of me and my car doesn't have side repeaters, you cock", i ended up with a full respray cause the bodyshop couldn't match the colour, so i'm actually glad he hit me, and mine was actually in a similar state to yours, just slightly more volvo shaped, -
GO ON THE 45's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dawesy1700 replied to Mick The Cabbie's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT

GO ON THE 45's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dawesy1700 replied to Mick The Cabbie's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
what i'd love to see is a mag do a comparison, do a power run on a car with 40's or 45's then swap to bike carbs and compare the power, torque and mpg, i have bike carbs on mine, have done for 2 years and they're fantastic, great for town driving and 44mpg on the motorway and great for giving it the beans, but i do agree they don't sound as nice as a snorting set of webbers, but they work just as well, its just a matter of opinion. -
i'll be there, but not in my ford, in my beemer, but i'll hide it in a bush,
-

i used Luke motorsport, he makes the WOSP range that a few big name suppliers sell and he's a top bloke, i got mine from peter lloyd, had an issue that lloyd wasnt interested in, rang luke, sent it back and he built a custom one for me FOC, top bloke and knows his stuff.
-
i'd go bike carbs, just as much power as webbers but loads more economy, but don't buy them from boggs, and thats speaking from experience, but they don't sound as nice as a snortin set of webbers

103 on the limiter spittin (small) flames it was with a 1300 4 speed wit a 1700 xflow, bounce bounce bounce bounce, then my box went bang

what he said, 2 grand is about right, but its not what you know, its who you know

if your in darlington or somewhere near you should try RA bodyshop, not the most expensive but nit the cheapest, mines in there now gettin a new front end and they've done a bare metal respray on it a few years ago. the good thing is though, the more of the prep work you can yourself the cheaper it'll be, heres what mine looked like and this is it now, gettin welded next week, lol.
-
sorry, no, when ever i whip it out (the camera) they always go shy, hahahaha, ill get some when i get it back

Please help restore my faith in old fords!!!
dawesy1700 replied to paul capri's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
same as above, when i got my mk2 it had a 40bhp 1.3 and every panel was purple, just different shades , its taken me 5 years to get it to where i want it, nice 120bhp 1660, all one colour, lol, but i use it everyday, if your worried about running costs, do what i do, i buy a run around every winter, cheap, small engine and keep the beast for playtimes in the nice weather. I currently have a 1996 mondeo estate, 1.8 glx, 12 months MOT, £210 off evilbay, that'll cheer u up.
