Couple of things. Adam & The Ants and gasket sealant
Burt Reynolds replied to Burt Reynolds's topic in CHIT CHAT
Honest - he was excellent. He done Car Trouble, Lady (what a great tune), Plastic Surgery (my fave) Xerox, Catholic Day, Never Trust A Man With Egg On His Face, Deutscher Girls, Press Darlings (what another maaaassive tune) and the list goes on. It was 100%. He fell off stage during his 3rd song - laughed it off and carried on and smashed it. I know he's playing at the Guildfest this year too so deffinitely one to go and watch he was excellent. Mr Gleennnnnnnn - did you get my text? -
Firstly - I have a metal fuel metering unit sitting on a card gasket sitting on a plastic housing. What sealant can i use? It's a piggin nightmare because of the 3 types of material and the fact that there is petrol around. Anyone know of what i can use. Secondly - just feel the need to tell you that I saw Adam & The Ants at Londons O2 Arena - he was f*cking excellent. What a show he put on it was top drawer. He smashed it and played mostly his really early punk stuff rather than his crappy later stuff like plastic surgery, catholic day, zerox..

Michael Jackson was The Man. he was the the geeeeeze of music and dance and i think that they should at least have one that looks like him, and not like Brian May in drag. The statue is gross.

I've tried dozens of companies/mobile welders in and around the area to quote me for my Capri 2.8is, but no-one seems to want to weld it, they either say no or don't come back to me for one reason or another (no disrespect intended to those who haven't come back to me). I've sent emails/pics/phone calls. Is there anyone out there who is willing to quote to weld it for me. I can't move it at the moment (haven't got a trailer) so i can't take it anywhere to show people. It needs: It was previously involved in a light front passenger side head on accident and as a result the metal panel that juts out and sits below front grill running the width of the front of the car has been cut out from the middle to the passenger side and re welded. The weld in the middle is poor and needs cutting out and re-welding and the light bowl hasn’t any metal to allow the 2 bottom screws on the passenger headlight to screw into. The battery tray needs replacing The metal on the both front strut mounts removing and welding The reinforcement strut plates need welding on Both front wing mounting rails need replacing The front sill areas just behind each front wheel have a fist size hole The scuttle panel has a 50p size hole The floor has a 50p size hole Both floor strengthening plates need replacing Areas above both of the front door hinges have fist size holes The sunroof has a 50p hole Both rear wheel arches have some spot of rust but don't need replacing A 50 p hole on passenger behind rear bumper trim http://s274.photobucket.com/albums/jj26 ... s%20Capri/ Cheers Burt -

I'd been with my ex for 8 yrs. One day when i found a Capri 2.8 in a barn and wanted to buy it she said to me..'buy the car and we are through'. ..........The car is now 3 years old and i don't regret it for one bit. If she didn't like me for who i am she can go like someone else. I've got kids, but the kids are cool and they see me often and now at last happy because she hated my love of old blue fords...well i'd be a lot happier if i could work in a warm dry spacious garage.

Sitting here by the glass of the shopfron working away and 30 strong kids are having turns at running into shops here 30 strong and launching snowball attacks on the staff behind the counters. Mate the poor newsagent next door has GOT IT! Then they started on my shop and smashed the window. Course i went out there and they're giving it large. Old bill were called, but not before i called my nephew - who is about their age - who was down here quicker than a quick thing and sorted it all out. they all came over and apologised - then the old bill arrived. Strange kinda day.

Would you replace or repair a rusty panel?
Burt Reynolds replied to Burt Reynolds's topic in CHIT CHAT
Ta very much ! -
I have removed the steel front wings on my Capri. They are both completely bare metal at the moment and have small specks of rust dotted all over them, but some (about 6 spots at 5mm) have penetrated completely through the metal. would you replace the panel or weld repair the spots. 98% of the wings look good. I really am getting p*ssed off with it and am serioulsy considering just buying replacement fibreglass panels for the doors, bonnet and front wings..

Ta peeps - as ever the oracle when it comes to helpful advice

Yeah, the body shops in south west london only have those stupid cloths in packets. Oh well, it'll have to be fleabay i suppose. As for the body...well Mr Tarrant - i've made my decision - final answer.... i'm etch priming the whole car, although there are a couple of small panels that will require welding. Presumably zinc primer then etch over the top...?
-
Cheers again..does high build primer need a hardener? I've heard several places that said it requires hardener. I'm spraying with a 60 litre 1.5hp compresser, gravity fed gun with a 1.8 nozzle, carbon filter and an inline water trap and inline air regulator. Obviously a DIY job, but can't afford 2-5k to get it done professionally...so really taking my time on this.. Also - why can't i buy pre paint anywhere and just those stupid cloths... I used the pre soaked paket of 10 cloths but all the sh*t came off and the bodywork was full of fibres from the cloth - they're crap? I've Zinc primered the front valance already and i'm going to etch prime the rest of the car at a panel at a time, high build primer, wait till it dries, wet n dry then white base coat ready for mineral blue paint.. If i'm dicking anything up or missing something i'd appreciate it if you experts would point it out. Burt

Putting Zinc Primer to my bare metal ford....anything else worth smacking on top of it (aside from paint of course?) Someone said - don't put Zinc Primer on it put acid etch on it, someone else said zinc primer then a filling primer, another said acid etch then a filler... man... Can i put Zinc primer, filler primer and basecoat? Ta Burt

Cheeky pikeys! If vengance pie is a meal best served warm then i'm told that rancid chopped chicken breast stuffed through their airbricks and then followed by a box of maggots is good. Apparently i'm told that when people are sitting there in their living room watching eastenders and all the maggotts hatch into flies - it's like a scene from Amytiville and they have to call the pest squad out...but of course i condone this sort of vengance naturally. -
That's the kiddy ! Good advice there.
