Hi Driving on the A217 Friday night in my dark blue 2.8i special C170 AHA and saw a beautiful yellow MK3 Capri, lowered, black 4 or 5 spoke revolution wheels..Anyway i wanted to ask what was under the bonnet.. Lovely motor. Burt

Si - the Capri is not going to be at Santa pod this Saturday. To say im gutted don't even come close to how I feel especially after working 8 till 6 in the insurance brokers I run, then to drive to the garage where the car is and work until 11pm every night. My misses ain't happy, especially since I blew out taking her out for a meal tonight to say ta for letting me work on it for the last 2weeks. It has run fine for the last few days..but the morning of its mot, whilst at the garage the lights f:-(ck up! Turn the side lights on and the passenger side doesn't work. Both headlights work. Main beam only works on flash, not on permanent. Indicators don't work at all, but hazards do. Consequently even after 10 hours of f:-(:-(king about the car has been left there without a mot. All fuses fine, earths look fine I think its the indicator stalk that's f:-(:-(cked personally. So sorry. I'm gutted

Well, i have the sump gasket to do, the front crankshaft pulley washer/seal, the rear crankshaft oil seal, the timing cover and metal adapter plate, the head gasket and plenum gasket to do. I've got a tube of Granville Instant clear silicone gasket. I aint got a clue how good it is, but i might just give it a go. I used it for my type 9 gearbox, I smeared it over the bolts holding the nose cone in place, the cork gasket holding the nose cone, the gearboxk top cover and the speedo blanking plug..I aint tested it yet though. I ran out of the Hermetite, and to be honest i don't like the gear. Anyone used Granville - would it be ok? Obviously i'm not going to use any sealer on the head gasket.

Ta. Gonna not use anything on the head gasket, but i've use hermatite red on the water pump already. Haven't tested it yet.

Hylomar blue or red, Hermatite Red, Granville silicone clear? Putting back a cologne v6..putting the standard gasket set on but i wanna whack some muck on it too just to make sure it does the job. Ta

10pm...and I've just finished drying everything and giving the whole area a can of wd40 and turning the engine over by hand for 10mins then wrapping it in clingfilm and then covering in with the plastic cover that mattresses come in. Looked good when finished. Gotta put it back together hopefully this weekend.

Hey mate. Yep I can't Adam n eve it. I'm gonna be drying it out and wd40ing it tonight. I need to come over to yours coz I've got the bonnet adjusters and I need to collect the brake pipes so i can make up a set. As for leaving my engine in the kitchen..well er indoors would go missing and i'd end up not hearing the end of it, what with my propshaft in the hallway, servo in the kitchen and all 3 seats in the bedroom. How are all 3 of ya doing. Did U have a good Xmas n new year ?

Ah mate i appreciate that. Heres a picture of exactly what it was that got rained on.. I went and paper towelled everything that i could see, piston chambers, tops of valve guides...someone said spray WD40 all over it and in it. Should i do that? Trouble is Glen, Sean and Mat (ZetecMk2 - maximum vehicle applications) has the rest of the car. Really close to putting it back together.

My 2.8 Capri engine is being overhauled and has been on a stand in my back garden for the last 6 months. The top half of the engine is in my flat nice and clean which are both cylinder heads, machined and lapped valves, a clean inlet manifold...oh....and a nice clean sump cover. The bottom half of the engine is still on a stand in my garden covered up, so I oiled the piston chambers and top of engine where the head gasket sits just so no rust develops. This morning i discovered it raining...and no cover on the bottom half of the engine!! In a blind panic i ran downstairs and kitchen towled everything i could get to. Is my engined ruined !??? What should i do?? Help ! That's what happens when you live in a rented effing flat with no garage.

Having said that i've seen quite a few post 1980's Capris with Old Skool Ford stickers in them and I was thinking of getting one too. Should i still do so now on the back of this bombshell? Glen - if you do decide to go in an old C plate capri - go in mine mate but if you need the 2.8i Bilsteins from my 1986 C plated capri for your pre 1980 escort...well up your chuffer mate because i can't cater for ya.

..Yeah but Glen how much did you get pay for in the end. I bet it weren't the £250. F*cking ebay - 1 plank spoils it for the rest. Mind you if a bloke turned up at my place with a mohican, earrings and tattoos all over the place owning up to being the bloke i'd been lying to - i think i would've given him the car. hahaha Happy Christmas

Any capris out there with 4 spoke revolutions on??? C'mon don't be shy. Surely the Capris haven't ALLLL got minilites on and standard wheels. Will i be the only one with polished 4 spoke revs on my capri?

Nice pics mate. Why do some people feel the need to smoke their tyres at the places where the meetings are held - talk about shitting in your own back yard. These are people intelligent enough to rebuild cars and engines from the ground up, but not intelligent enough to realise that by doing this could result in the place banning the meets. I just don't get it.
