  4. Need to get my esky painted now i`ve spent all the summer fitting the front wings and front panel. I had someone to paint the whole shell but now can`t do it. Does anyone know of a decent painter in the North London area? This is my resto, http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=130409
  5. Anyone know where i can get these from and that will fit properly? Had to remove the vinyl roof during my resto but it looks like im gonna need to recover the roof as its not too good.

  8. Wished you lived nearer, i gotta fit 2 front wings and front panel to fit and aint looking forward to it.
  9. The charge wire from the alternator should be a blue wire on the 9 pin plug at the back of the clocks.
  10. as bananarama said. sounds like a poor connection on the alternator charge wire at the back of the alternator or the other end which is behind the dash clocks.

  16. Thanks for the insight people, might then leave it for someone else to have the headaches with fitting them. Would it be any easier to fit the wings if i replaced the front panel as well or am i just gonna make it more grief?
  17. Gonna have a go at fitting a new front wing on my mk2 escort tomorrow. Just wondered how long it will take to remove the old wing and weld on the new one?

  20. LOL. Checked for all wildlife and no joy. Removed the fan belt which then cancels out alternator and water pump, still the same. It only does it when engine hot and below 1000rpm. It is fairly high pitched but bloody loud. Does sound as if metal to metal. Once you rev the engine then it stops.
  21. an update on what i checked today. Tried running the engine without the fan belt, made no difference. Checked for excess movement on the crank and couldn`t move it. Any other ideas?

  24. Iv`e run out of ideas of what it could be. Its a 1600 standard crossflow engine. Only happens on idle when engine is hot. It sounds like a belt slipping only louder. It is definately in or around the engine and im begining to think its inside as iv`e looked at everything else. I have also noticed that the oil pressure drops very low on idle but anything over 1000rpm`s and the pressure is great. I thought it may have been the rocker shaft dry of oil but its definately not that. Any ideas?
