well after 7 1/2 years my mk2 mex got its mot yesterday!! still needs a few things sorting ( not that happy with intetior , on lookout for correct roll tops, paint on the roof needs to be sorted ,carbs could do with setting up , & a few bits & pieces but will do as i can afford to ) ive built this car on a tight budjet over the last few years so it was never going to be a concourse car just a bit of fun & something to keep me out of the pub !! dont think it turned out too bad for my first resto, with the original purchase price it has cost me about £4500 up to now will put some new pics up when i have downloaded them off my phone.

looks a goodun !! a mate of mine had a 1300 ghia signal yellow /black vynyl roof webasto with a 1600 in it back in the early ninties ,i had a 1600sport in signal orange rs alloys/spoilers meo227r . his was syd---r that was a cracking little car dont know if they are still alive or not

had a harrier about 10 or 12 years ago oev874v sold it on with front end damage dont know if it made it back on the road or not

say u had a mex or rs & had a bad crash or was too rotten to repair what would u rather do scrap it (dont think so! ) re shell it , or sell the log book ? although i dont totally agree with selling log books (espesially on ebay) if it keeps another classic escort on the road cant be all bad . after all it is a bit different to doing it to new stuff, i`m sure if we could buy new shells like the mg &mini boys we would ! as someone else said if u use a lower spec shell usually all the rs strenghening bits get welded on anyway .

got one in my truck had it years easy to fit , mine is literally chucked in runs off cigarette lighter plug & mag mount on the roof , doesnt get out too bad ( about 20 miles, depends what the terrain is like ) used to drive muckaway tipper was really handy when a few were on a job in the sticks to look out for stuff coming the other way !!

everyone has to start somewhere m8 as said practice 1st . best advice measure measure measure !! & make sure both bits are good clean bare metal . u should be ok
