It was a fab day , great weather on the Saturday and some awesome cars , got an autograph or two and wished Christian Horner F1 Red Bull boss good luck with the championship. The air displays were fabulous and I seriously want to visit Duxford next year.

So hard to keep everyone happy I know but it's true , lot's of pics etc on the specialised Cortina website , don't know if I'm allowed to mention it ?
-
I'm afraid were never going to have quite the setup the VDub guys have but you'll be surprised at the bigger Ford meet ups , the Mk2 club I belong to has a good national rally at Billing Aquadrome in July , heres their spares info (only to members though) http://www.mk2cortina-1600e.co.uk/spares.htm we tend to help each other out a bit and also frequent the buysellcortina website as well , if that car of yours has a reg beginning with RTR I know it well !
-
Hi MissA , if you join one of the two owners clubs then everyday spares like these are a lot easier , we have reached a point with early Cortinas where certain things are quite expensive - these Track control arms for example http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LOTUS-CORTINA-MK2 ... 3a5a9152c5 , however they are great cars that guarantee a conversation whenever you stop for petrol and have a great club scene.

I just wondered if there is any interest in a little trip across the channel this July ? anyone with a taste for GT40s etc will not be dissapointed , I've always wanted to get to this one as it's bi-annual , I know a good camp site etc from attending the main 24hr event.

DUNSFOLD SHOW 16th MAY ### OLDSKOOLFORD STAND ###
Redex R replied to popeye's topic in SHOWS, EVENTS & MEETS
The Red Corty is now on board as well , great charity ! -
Only 3 or 4 have survived , GWC 10 H being the most famous - Geoff Hurst's car he used for a year , also Peter Osgood's car and another or so in the hands of a private collector , these will become more and more sought after as the year's go by , these car,s are from a bygone era both in classic car terms and in terms of sports memorabillia. Let's face it Rooney or Gerard will never be seen in a top end Mondeo or the like , those were special days and footballers were far more grounded , how we yearn for a repeat of 66 and the like.
-
Yes , Dragoon red or Dragon red by some peoples typos ! Mk1 Corty Anglia and Corsair as well as early Mk2s.
-
Current school of thought is that it's an Astrali , not one I was familiar with before (I remember the tiny shirt button type Astrali) also popular on MGBs etc in their day I believe . I like that car of yours , nice colour !
-
As the title says , I'm curious as upon further investigation the boss fits a Mk2 Cortina (and Mk1 ?) splines perfectly and the boss is also the right length for a series one car. Is this an aftermarket 60s accesory as its slightly smaller than an E wheel but it's definitely not the Mountney accesory wheel that I'm familiar with , I'm thinking of restoring this as it looks like the original 1600E wheel only smaller but the difference is in the actual boss as the Cortina centre badge has a lot bigger fitting , also there is a hole in the base.

Just a project in miniarture , where can I get me a tiny road sign to somewhere up in the hills up north ? Nice in France doesn't really cut it right ??

Yes please , I will have the OSF calendar to go with the usual must have Ang Jolie calendar and also this year a retro Le Mans poster calendar http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LE-MANS-VINTAGE-2 ... 1c0bd02ec8 -
Being a bit letchy at Goodwood is actually encouraged but it MUST be done in a Leslie Phillips style...Ding Dong
-
It was a top day out was'nt it ? even Stirling was having a letch ! Glamcabs , always a worthwile stop ! Come back ! Is it Murray Walker ? , it certainly is ! Liking the back lights on this ice cream van. Look who owns this one. I,m sure you will recognise this guy , also saw Chris Rea and a fair few drivers like Jack Sears , Darren Turner etc

A busy year for me , all seasons can be witnessed here -
I really wanted to come to this but had to be elsewhere , the irony is it was only a mile or two down the road doing a pick up from Gatwick ! DOH
-
Its one of those shows you have to book for in advance , Gaydon only has a certain size car park and they are sh*te hot on health and safety.
-
I'm really looking forward to this one , anyone else headed up the A34/M40 early on Sunday ?
-
The site we stayed on is about 4 miles North East of the circuit http://www.chateau-de-chanteloup.com/gb/index.html its owned by a family passionate about motors and they have large TV on the patio , motorsport themed bar , swimming pool etc , even have their own car show on Fri night as the site is so busy with motors , thats where we normally stay , the alternative is to stay on one of the sites close to the circuit for better access and not having to drive all the time - max out on drinking instead. Heres a few pics of the old cars we saw , some on site and the Gulf liveried Mustang - now theres an idea for a Mk2 Cortina livery.

I just got back from a mega weekend at Le Mans and wondered what interest if any in doing the Classic next year which is more up our street , I really think its about time we had a little convoy of OSFs going down to La Sarthe next July, I will put up a post early next year to see if their is any interest. British involvement this year was all about the Astons , it really was a blast , you will not be dissapointed - great weather, old cars , non stop beer what more do you want from life ?
-
I had similar issues with my previous MOT station and the worse thing was the lack of communication , I have now found a better one with a tester that understands old cars and actually took me through any adviseries whilst doing the test , they cost £10-£15 more than other places but at least I get some benefit from the test as well as the piece of paper once a year , its a two way thing with them and needless to say I will be going back to the same place next year.

Guaranteed to get any bloke going !
-
and some of mine , poxy weather but great motors !
-
do you ever think about how lucky you are ????

Give it time my son , when she turns match of the day over and only ever wants to watch chickflicks...other things like old motors will start to look more apealing !
