Just completed over 500 mile in the Van all in all things went real well, a few moans and groans along the way but my wife Jackie eventually went quiet The Van passed the mot on Friday lunch time and travelled down to Pooley Bridge with only a couple teathing problems, sticking throttle which I still havent found the cause?? some eng fumes in the Van (didnt seal up the dash area when fitting) Speedo cable kept the choke flap closed (air filter didnt arrive in the post on time) dissconnected and used satnav. did a run out on the sat approx 80 miles and another on the sunday approx 50 miles, no major problems returned home tonight, got a few things to do to the Van as it gets very hot inside due to the eng being so far back and the exhausts so close to the tunnel, I think I will open the front to the size of the whole grill to allow more air to pass through the eng bay. Time for a little update Have been doing a little cutting of old rusty parts :affraid: lots of them, the van didnt look to bad until I started but I suppose we all say that, multi layers of patch after patch Cut out the driverside floor, leaving the step for my line. Welding Started :thumb up: floor from the rear arch forward, and the inner sill in place further forward. Note - the rear part makes up my battery box so the inner sill doesnt come all the way to the rear arch.

Thanks for the comments I have just done the front of my 105 which is fitted with a 1500GT, I was looking at the Milton kit but although it looks the part my budget didn't stretch that far (I have collected the mk2 Cortina Stuts etc for the mod which are not easy to get) pic of the car after to follow as Camera is broken! I wanted to keep the 13" Rostyls that are fitted. This is what I have done. initially I started this off as a test to see how diffacult it woud be to shorten struts and as my 105 legs were leaking so there was going to be no loss of good parts if it didnt work but I was happy with the result and they are now fitted to the car ready for use. I shortened the Anglia's own legs and fitted Mk1 Capri inserts, which are approx 80mm shorter. The Diameter of the rod for the top mount is smaller on the Capri and needs a bush machined so the 105 top mounts can be used (I left a 10mm sholder on this bush to equal the amount I lowered the spring seat). I lowered the spring seat at the same time by 70mm to lower the front of the car, I should add adjustable seats could have been fitted at this stage. I then bought Mk1 fiesta discs and calipers, a little machining of the 105 Hub is requiered as the outer diameter is to large to fit inside the discs, made up brackets to attach the calipers, which are 6mm flat plate that use the 4 bolts origionally for the backplate mounting with a 3mm spacer welded to the plates where the caliper bolts on. The only extra thing I needed was a 10mm wheel spacer (wich I bought complete with longer studs) for my wheel to clear the spring seat. (probably wouldnt have needed that if I had fitted 2 1/4" springs), note no other mods to steering needed, (no adj TCA's, No offset to mounts, no modded steering arms etc) I guess the above mods don't help to much if you want larger wheels but as far as modding the legs etc it turned out a simple task if you have decent fabrication skills and would apply to the Mk2 Cortina legs The best bit is the whole lot cost me less than 175 Quid I realise that the handling wont be up to Milton standard but what I have done has - -lowered the front by 70mm. -The Capri inserts are stiffer than the origional 105 legs that were also leaking thus uprated and repaired the struts. - Uprated the front Brakes to disc (hope this is of interest to somebody) Brian

Just a little update, I havent got to the van yet but my 105E is almost there and the Van is next on the list I was Haveing a little play with wheels before I get to deep into the repairs, I dont want to put arches on the Van and the rear wheels are sticking out about 2.5 inch which I think would just cause grief from the boys in Blue I have a set of 8 x 15" slots, they fit just inside the arch, what do you think whilst I was at it I had a set of 14" which I tried up front and must say I kinda like them although the set I have have to much dish outwards Brian

Thanks for the comments the Van was put together in the 80's The eng is well back, at the moment I cant get in the Drivers door as the steering wheel is so far back here is a pic of the front seat. Here are a couple pics of what it was like in the past, the plain red pic is from the early 90's and the Cocacola one is from the mid 80's

Hi I only bought this 3 or 4 weeks ago (this pic was its last run at York a couple months back before being stripped), looking through this site I have found one another picture of it (there may be more). Unfortunatly it has come to me without any running gear what so ever I plan to put it on the road with a 350 chevy approx 400BHP I have picked up a narrowed axle for the rear & 10x15 slot mags

Here is my 300E fitted with a Jag IRS & 5.8 ford windsor motor (should be fun) I have only had this a couple months, the Van was built back in the mid 80's and has been off the road since 97 I bought it as a non runner and with no carb/exhausts or radiator fitted (all parts in the rear of the van), after a little research I think the parts had been removed to upgrade from a 2v to 4v inlet manifold. I fitted a Carb/battery, turned the eng over, the oil pressure came up almost straight away so I hot wired the ign & fuel pump (wireing is a mess). I turned the eng over but all I got was large flames out the exhaust manifolds!! checked the timing which was about 3 cyls out, adjusted and tried again the motor fired into life running sweet with good oil pressure I still have to check the auto box, axle etc

Hi This is my 105E, I have had it for 7 months or so and is in the middle of repairs & upgrade, it came to me as a 997 (thats what it said on the V5), the eng was shot and the car had been off the road since 2001. I found a 1500 GT eng not far from me, bought and fitted it, I have renewed all the Brakes in the rear, new H/breke cable, fitted lowering blocks and spaced the wheels out to fill the arches also turreted the rear. (all since the pictures below) The interior is box standard. I am gathering the parts to mod the front suspension and get it on Discs (solid) The Car itself is very solid, only the need for a few small welding repairs

Hi, just joined and love the site & this thread My first car was a Mk 1 Cortina 1200cc that I bought for 15 Quid and spent hrs welding etc, my sons first car only a couple years back was a 2001 Corsa SXI. (you are right how things change) He has got the bug for older cars now, I think its the tax exempt bit and now has a Spitfire project (sorry) his mates come round our place all the time and they are getting the older car bug to, one arrived in a Capri the other day. As for laughing at our old cars modded up, I laugh at all his mates with the plastic body kits etc Brian

I am 45 years old married with 3 kids. the kids have grown up now and this gives me some time to spend on my projects I am into old cars and hotrods, I have a 105E project that I have just fitted a 1500 GT into also have a 300E van fitted with a 5.8 Windsor motor and last but not least a 107E ex drag car I plan to put back on the road. now that I can post pics here they are, now posted in readers rides. The above cars are the reason for me joining this site. Brian
