  1. Thanks for the coments. Seems like the Escort van have many fans. All of them gets the keep votes, which dont make this any easyer I decided to give myself this summer time to think what to do whit these. Money is not the main thing here, its the space to keep them and time to take care of them all..
  2. Or i sell them all and buy that 69 Charger thats been hounting in my mind for years..
  3. I have to sell one of my cars, but cant decide which one. What do you think? MK1 Escort -74 1600 crossflow My newest project, very solid shell in the right places. Original front wings and front panel. Exelent strut tops.. MK1 Escort -73 1600 crossflow My first car had it about 14 years. Now in project state (been like this for the past 3 years): MK1 Cortina -65 1600 crossflow Had this about 1,5 years now. very solid shell. MK2 Capri -75 2,0 OHC Bought this last year, bought new wheels and added some exhaust and some smaller things.. Mk1 Escor Van -72 1300 crossflow Bought this one 7 years ago as a rotten project, done all welding and painting to it myself, but never have registrated it on the road. My firs car have big sentimental value, and selling projects dont bring much money.. I dont have place for all of these and thats the main thing to sel one or two. Its REALY hard to let go any of these, but i cant just keep buying more and never selling one.. I have thinked this very hard and i cant decide If i had big garage to storage these i could keep them all, but if i never had time to work/drive them all whats the point of keepping them all? I NEVER drive any of these on winters, or rainy days. I drive these just on sunny summer days.. I have the non Ford daily driver for everyday use. Im thinking maybe the Van or the Cortina..? For the past 13 years i had only MK1 Escorts, and i have sold those not so good ones along the way. Now i have many good ones, and some other models than just Escorts.. Any thoughts? Does they have some therapy groups for this kind of "have to buy all old fords" people?
  4. Many thanks on that. It looks better now, but i cant still add more cars.. On my profile theres the 255 caracters limit and it says my signature is too long, when i tried to add my newest project on it now. It might not be possible i think..?
  5. What im trying to do/ask is how or can i make my signature reading all my current cars and by clicking them the tread of that car will open? Showing the link will make the signature too long. Now my signature is too long and i cant put all my current cars on it. It would be nice, if someone is interested to look whats the current status of all my cars at the moment.. I am posting to all of my car threads when ever something new is to add.
  6. Today i decided that winter is over and it was time to take Capri out of the garage. Took some better pictures of it.
  7. Hello Simon The binders arrived today, so thats sorted then. Thanks for help whit those.. Now that i have sped this eavning putting my mags to the binders i notised that its almost 160 magasines published. i notised number reads on every new magazine. I have CF mags from 2003 + some Ford Heritage mags (issue 8 from 94 is oldest that i have). When was the first Classic Ford publiched, and does that number counts Ford Heritage magazines also? I have understand that Ford Heritage chanced to Classic Ford at some point? Just if you happen to remember.. Regards Tuomas
  8. Some exhaust mods: I bought the Peter Lloyd full exhaust system, because it was cheap and because people sayed dont buy it It fitted ok after making some mods to the manifold, because of the different LHD belhousing. Clutch and starter motor in different sides, never thought that before. New Capri badge and numeral II sticker:
  9. decided to put decent stereo system whit subwoofer for the first time to my classic Ford. Last 10 years there havent been any radios on my classics.. Some of you may think, no dont do that.. I like to play rock in my Capri so i can feel the base kicking, and having standard OHC, no V6/V8 sounds to hear.. Maybe this is not for everybody, but i did it whitout ruining the car and as hiden as possible No boot space lost here, and most important thing no ugly bass boxes in the boot. Mine are MK2 so you can see the boot trough rear window.. At this point the system is CD player at front and 12" sub and a pair of 6x9 speakers in the side panels in the boot (bought spare panels and saved the originals) 2 amps next to the sub powering it and the 6x9 speakers. All of these components have been laying on my garage for many many years, so nothing expensive. i spend for about 100£ on wires and other materials. No door cards or anything else been cut. No cutting of metal and minimal amount of screw holes. And yes i know there should be speakers at front, but like i said i wont cut the car. I have spare kick panels, so maybe some fiberglass work on those in the future. Heres a lot of pictures how i did it if someone is interested: Some surfase rust here because of leaking rear light seal, its solid under there.
  10. I ordered and paid 7 Classic Ford Binders 30.12.2009 and still they have not arrived. Can you help whit this?
  11. My easy rear drum brake repair wasnt that easy.. I found out after i bought new shoes like the old ones that it was all wrong. To realice what parts should i have took several days. Now i have new wheel cylinders (whit groove for the shoe) right shoes and right springs i hope. Also bought new drums. Old ones that wasnt right for this car: And something shiny to the engine bay: replacing the old horrible air filter:
  12. I was thinking that Lowering will be done now that i have the wheels and i can see how much.. Didnt want to lower it before i had the wheels and tyres decided.
  13. Thanks. Nobody i hope drives them in snow and salt.. Here usualy every old classic goes to sleep for the winter and around april the snow have melted and you can drive summer tyres on dry roads. Sadly we are near to brake the capital city snow height record from 1982, it was 67cm then and now its 60cm. The Capital city Helsinki is in southest part of Finland. If you came here by plane and to Helsinki airport, there was some classic fords near by, because its about 20 minutes drive from Helsinki airport to my house..
  14. Some updates to this. I have posted this wheel issue on the capri questions section, but this is what i ended for finaly. New wheels trial fitted on the picture. Fronts are 185/60 and back are 205/60. MIdland Wheels RS Replicas bought from this forum from nice and helpful guy Moss Its nice to be on this kind of forum where are so many nice people who are into old Fords. We have some forums in Finland too, but im rather here Im going for the garage this eavning and do the rear brakes (new shoes and drums.) Waiting new manifold and exhaust to arrive from England and nos LHD hedlight arriving too, found it Ebay.uk. Trying to find F O R D badges for the rear lid because it have been debadged and i want it back to original. Just bought nos CAPRI badge.

    Fookin cold

How cold is it? Here in Finland its just now -23 celsius.. thats pretty cold i think.
  16. Not sure about the colour.. Previous owner said that it have been re painted in original colour. I try to uncode the vin plates colour code it says 5 on the plate. On Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts that 5 is "Jade Green" (says classic ford magazine) Dont know does that mean the same on Capri.. Car is made in West Germany assembly plant Cologne April 1975. Is Java and Jade green the same thing?
  17. Just bought this one -75 2.0 OHC, quite difficult to find good ones here in Finland (or in any condition)
  18. Where do you guys order your Ford models (MK1 Escort/Cortina)? Would like to see what kind of prices/selection you have in England, or do you order from another country? Have found some sites already, but do you have some usefull links?
  19. I try to explain this (dont know does anybody get what im try to say..) For example MK1 Escort: On vehicle inspection they are only interested engines standard BHP. You cant change for example OPEL:s X20XE engine to an MK1 escort because it produce stock 150BHP which is more than 20% BHP compared to RS1600 (most powerful factory MK1 modell) 120BHP+20%=144BHP=max BHP of Escort engine. You can put 220BHP Pinto engine to Escort because Pintos stock BHP is less than 144BHP. Only when you put turbocharger on to an originaly non turbo engine, vehicle inspector want to see rolling road document that says its still under 144BHP. And of cource you have to update brakes to match RS1600, or if you change 1,1 crossflow to 1,6 crossflow brakes=mexico brakes... You must deliver legal Ford doguments to vehicle inspection where they can check engines BHP brake sizes...) You cant just say yes i have changed bigger brakes, you have to prove it...
  20. Where can i ask questions about subscription renewal to Finland? I have previously ordered through Finnish bookstore. Now i would like to order without midle hands.
  21. Im planing to use the Cortina next summer, just hoping that those 7x13 Superlites arrive. Van is nearly ready, now doors have been painted. I try to get it on the road. All it needs is litle cosmetic work and new clutch for vehicle inspection. I might have one old Ford too many (no decent storage space for the winter) but dont want to sell any. I still might have to let one go.. Dont know how you guys can put pictures so they can been seen on these pages, but my pictures are here: http://www.kuvaboxi.fi/julkinen/2boqj+t ... fords.html I put some words on the pictures for you, and by clicking the "Katso diaesitys" you can see them bigger. Would like to hear some comments..
  22. I have allso found this text in tommy sandhams Cortina data book (sorry cant put picture) It says Standard fitting in australian cars, but i believe that i have same cross-member to my Cortina: The above illustration shows the "export" cross-member (much sought-after for rally cars) and believed to have been standard fitting in Australian cars, and the G.T. track control arm with the flattened section on the top face
  23. I have read that export models of Escorts, Cortinas... have had stiffer body from factory. Does this include all export models to what ever country? Im just curious..?
  24. Very solid bodywork. My Escort was same colour 13 years ago when i bought it. Your project brings back good memories..
  25. I try the 185/60 tyres on the Cortina and see how they look.. Here in Finland you dont find 13" low profile street tyres(some expensive racing tyres). I have had 205/60 or 175/70 tyres on 5,5" wheels for past ten years so 185/60 on 7" wheel is Low profile to me..
