Toby Kent's Mk1 Cortina
BigWallace replied to Mk2Jo's topic in READERS RIDES (PAST & PRESENT) PICTURES, BROCHURES & ARCHIVES
Gutted for you Toby! Hope it's all sorted out soon bud. It's the same with the Corsair, they don't like letting an old motor out or merge, then when you catch up with them or overtake, they get all confused and pissed off that an old motor has made a fool of their modern plastic mobile! As the old saying goes: Never judge a book by it's cover!! -
Not a car, Just an expensive wing!

Cheers for your concern guys! Paypal has refunded my account. The seller (Maltmad) never did communicate again, so it was in my favour. Now on to the lengthy task of locating another one! I really would like to get it ready for next season, so I can take it down to some real shows... Not like the diddy little ones up here!!! Leigh. -

The seller said he would refund my money in the meantime... This has still not occured! He has until tomorrow to respond to the claim on PayPal's site, then they will refund my account. Still does'nt save the car tho! The owners club are well miffed about it and won't welcome whoever took it. It'll no doubt be welded on and painted by now, so I'm still fooked!! -

Cheers guys! The police have been notified by the seller and I shall also do so myself. Expressed ones don't fit (a guy just north of the border tried 3 pairs, then gave up due to the lack of gen ones) and are far thinner than the originals. Maybe its time to swap it all into a Mk2 Cortina! -

Nope! He got his son to give it to someone who called at the address. He was working at the time. Personal ID should have been checked before releasing it really. -

PS: It was taken from an address in Gt Staughton, behind the post office on Beachampstead Rd. -
Hi guys. Been trying to find out where the o/s/f nos corsair wing I won on ebay went to. £295 and the seller refused to package it... He runs the local post office (don't know why it was such a hassle). I then had great difficulty finding a courier willing to collect it unpackaged (from the Cambs area). When a friend said he would collect it on his way home, I phoned the seller to tell him, only to be told that it had already been uplifted, apparently with my username. Not a happy bunny at this moment in time. I have a sneaking suspicion that it was the bidder on the other wing who has looked up who won it and sent someone else to steal it so he could have a pair. After all, I can see who bought the other one, so it would'nt be difficult. As another o/s example is not available, the Cossie Corsair is now abandoned and may well be broken up due to a thieving b*****d. Various panel dealers have been trying to locate one for me for over a year, but to no avail. It is in the hands of ebay and paypal, but I don't hold much hope of any progress. So now I have no wing, no money and no prospect of the car ever getting back on the road. If anyone knows anything, please let me know. Leigh.

As per usual Ben, another cracking issue

Orkney Skull Splitter was the one back in my band days. They'd only sell you 2 bottles as that'd put you on your back! I remember having Rodger Wilkins cider in Chedder in 96... 1 pint and I was w*nkered! Collected a barrel from the cider farm to take home... the big vat in which it was fermented had a huge skull & crossbones with the legend "you've been rodgered!

I'll try to get pics of the motor and the body when I'm there in a couple of weeks. The chassis is in storage at the mo.

Right enough! Just makes me mad!!!

OH YES INDEEDIE!!! Great sound! Just wonder how my mate's all steel 1930 Ford Model A (with some of it's original paint just hanging on!) is going to sound (and go) with it's stroker 350/350 Chevy combo? B&M Megablower, pair of 4barrel Holleys (cant remember the CFM), under-driven for "economy"! Made 670bhp on the dyno-bench I've got to get stuck into it again shortly. Putting in a 2mm steel floor and letting in some small repairs (which won't be painted), rear wings to be banded 1". Running on steelies, beauty-rings n 40 Ford caps. Wheels, chessis, engine n firewall will be "show" body n fenders will be pure RAT!!!

Cheers lads I did'nt care for 'em much either, but I could'nt find a decent mk2 Cortina after travelling the length of the uk each weekend for a few weeks to look at supposedly "mint" motors, only to be dissappointed each time. This came up after all the travelling and was relatively local (Dundee) with all the history from day1 and the original logbook! It's even got the little dealer sticker on the glovebox lid! Never had been welded at that point, so I took it cos it was cheap! Love 'em now and they're a rare sight these days. -
WTF? Only 6 weeks ago, unleaded up here was on average 87.9p per litre, yesterday it was 93.9p. 1p per week and now this? The price of oil has'nt risen, so why are the government taking us for mugs (once again)? They don't seem to care that most people can't afford much in general and that some hauliers will go out out of business. In the end of the day, it pushes the price of everything we buy ever higher.

Yup, have indeed Si.. Just a bit over my budget at the mo! Might have a source for a gen one tho. Will know in the next few days. Got the Emerald K3 to wire in and the messy job of scraping the old waxoyl off too... Yuk! Cheers, Leigh. -

Hi Simon! Of course I read CF... It's better now it's got the original Ed back!!! She's gonna be a stunner The Cossie beast is in bits (again!) Away to pull the wings off, but I am struggling to locate a front lower valance to replace the teabagged original, so I think you'll be finished 1st! I'll be happy if it's only ready for Ford Fair! -
Not as much go as the Anglia though! Love your motor btw m8

Cheers m8 Thats a rather nice lookin' x-pack you've got there -
Found the turnoff for my house but thankfully, they could'nt be bothered to come down the unclassified road to it! My mates house 2 miles up the road is unfortunately in a village and all his classic cars in the drive, in the back garden and his garage ( he was in there at the time) are on full view. It's a recent pic by all accounts. His street has in the past, fallen prey to thieving pikey scum when all the garages were ransacked. Looks like it's about to happen again. This is just another invasion of our ever diminishing privacy. How right George Orwell was when he wrote 1984!
