  1. I remember when I was about 10 taping playing card to my Raleigh Chopper so that the spokes twanged them, making an engine noise as you went, but this is far, far worse - this is aimed at people with cars, jobs and pubes but no brains - how sad a state the yoof of today are
  2. Good luck with it mate but pace yaself - bit by bit is the way to lose weight for good and get fit. Too much too soon and you'l either start hating it and give up or drop dead of a heart attack. Also, its a good idea to eat less. Drink water when ya feel peckish between meals and get yaself a smaller plate (seriously, it helps govern meal sizes)
  3. Theres not much punishment in death - its all over in a heartbeat. Things should be tougher in jail for the worst offenders - hard fookin labour, NO TV, fags and chocolate for them I say. Plus, this way, if it turns out they are innocent at a later date, we can always say sorry mate and give them some compo.
  4. Fit new wiper motor, Fit front screen, MOT, Get free tax disc. AND Adjust sagging o/s front quarter bumper
  5. £400? thats Portamig money. pm weldequip here - http://www.mig-welding.co.uk
  6. I'd be grinning like that too if I could get paid £11k for a couple of weeks work, and a couple of hundred quid on materials Mine has gone up since they started 3 weeks ago cos i didn't prep it in the end and they found a bit more welding to do. It probly gonna be about £2500 when its done. That on a reduced rate as a low priority, gap filling job tha probs goning to take another 3 weeks. If I'd wanted it done in a hurry, it would me more like £4000. I looked at cars theyd done before choosin them - thats the safest way.
  7. I'm going with the £75 pinion and getting the machining done by the people who are doing my engine, but if anyone wants to pursue the quaife kit, they need only drop them a line - they are surprisingly helpful and friendly.
  8. It will... bigtime... cos I can't I realy appreciate the time youve taken to sort that out What can I do in return? I feel like I owe you a bottle of scotch or something... 4parajon - thanks mate
  9. I'm sure it will all be sorted for ya - nobody stays in business long doing a crap job and not making good.
  10. I dunno bout insurance, spose I'll cross that bridge when I come to it but I kinow loads of people have them so not worried... its the fookoff great TO4 stage3 turbo I'm worried about
  11. Stardust Silver would be understated too, and correct for an mk1 escort... less battleship, more starship

    nutters

yeah, that was amusing nearly as funny as the epic fail in your sig
  13. On a bike, you need EVERYONE to be looking out for ya. someone on a bicycle was killed near my work the other week - squashed under a lorries wheels I heard ...claret EVERYWHERE
  14. Now, if ANY bloke had said that.... JP - I realy like the colour of that 1978 2.3 mk3... do you happen to what the name and code is? my cars still being preped so its not too late to change my mind
  15. Yeah, givem a go - they are meant to be better than fibresports anyway (who burnt all their capri moulds) Ive done a fair bit to lighen mine as it goes... the panels certainly help. ive got a plexiglass rear screen, alloy gearbox bellhousing, lighter front seats (recaros are soooooo heavy), alloy brake callipers and done a fair bit to lighten the engine like alloy timing gears and a lighter flywheel and replacing parasitic fans and pumps wiv lighter, more efficient electric items. Ive ditched the rubber boot spoiler and side rub strips and i'm going to fill the glovebox wiv helium next actualy more interested in getting it on the weighbridge than the rollers when its done Ive also moved the battery to the boot as well so hopefuly it will be closer to ideal front/rear weight distribution.
  16. Right everything is sorted - just need to home 9 capri quickracks. They will be £125 plus vat and postage of £10 and will have a 12 month Quaife guarantee. The ratio will be finalised when all purchasers have expressed their preference and paid a 50% deposit. can people who want one pm me rather than post in this thread - thanks. JP - These racks will be only for RIGHT HAND DRIVE capris V8ian - Powersteering racks from 2.8 capris have a ratio of 3.3 turns lock to lock so not a quick rack at all. These kits from quaife will be 2.8 at most - suitable for performance driving, drifting but not old ladies And, as you say the powerracks only fit 2.8 crossmembers, and are VERY heavy, about 3 times heavier than a non power rack ...right where you don't want extra weight.
  17. Heard back this morning. Based on 10 sets, the price will be £125 each, plus vat. Thats not much more than the "off the shelf" escort quick racks they do so I'm pleased with that realy. If there isn't 10 of us, I will buy the remaining units and sell them on ebay. Only problem with it is that they wanted a sample of the rack and pinion required. I said I don't have one (hence the enquiry) but can supply them with a standard rack to work it out from - will post up there response when i receive it but in the meantime, if ANYONE has a capri quick rack they could lend us/quaife, I'm sure we could work something in return.
  18. have you triede Smith and Deakin GRP panels? I have their bonnet, wings, valance and tailgate and all of it fitted o.k. One wing was a bit odd but nothing the painters can't sort out.
  19. Orange, I think
  20. Yes, it could happen, IF theres at least 10 of us wanting one... Waitng for a chap called Peter Drake to get back to me wiv prices but wanted to see what interest there is. reply to this thread if you fancy a kit. They will be 2.2 turns lock to lock btw.
  21. too right
  22. capri71

    MIG Power?

You needn't worry too much mate - you will be using lowish amps on thin panels. You can get 200 amp machines that run off a domsestic supply so 25 to 45 amps or so isn't a problem.
  23. I see ah well, it was brand new so might try for a refund first. it was only 49 quid. How much is a quick rack anyway? Ive seen kits to convert escort racks but not capri And any man capri rack will work o.k? saves by all that other stuff too - thanks lads edit - ive edited the name
  24. looks the same basic layout on both racks to me as, usual I don't understand
  25. Righto just spoke to rally design and their adjustable TCAs should be o.k. Retromotorsport - I realy appreciate the help youve given me cos sadly, I'm not well off enough financialy to have things like this done by people like yourself - if I was, I would be coming to you though, for sure - MANY thanks
