There's not really much difference between a diesel tank and a petrol tank. All diesel tanks will have a fuel return as diesels tend to return more fuel than they use. In returning fuel it also helps to warm the fuel thus cutting down the possibilty of waxing.
Another way of reducing waxing is to ad a drop of petrol as this has a lower freezing point.
The only other difference i can think of is the position the tank is mounted in. As petrol is more volatile than diesel the tank is usually mounted a little more out of the way, ie not on the side of the vehicle like seen on trucks etc. As far as i am aware some of the more modern petrol tanks are also fitted with scavenger fuel pumps which you don't normally find with diesels. Even if i'm not 100% right it might get you out of the shite.
Sounds like you've got yourself a bagain , just don't get too carried away with it and keep the mods simple, sometimes less is more. slam it and put some nice rims on it.
at the moment it's around £100 for your casing to be narrowed and around £200-£250 for your halfshafts to be shortened. It usually works out just as cheap to get new shafts from strange or moser. Try any of these, they do this sort of thing all the time.

Tried to do this years ago without the tool and ended up driving my capri around with a phillips screwdriver stuck in the hinge. Never had any more trouble with that door though. If you can borrow or hire the tool do it cos it's cheaper than replacing half your screwdrivers. You can always try making the tool, long nut and bolt and a bar with a slot in it.
sounds like the best idea yet. Sometimes the easiest solutions get overlooked. It will look like the rods haven't been modified, cool. Will have to come and have a look when i eventually get over to malta again.
Seems like you have had a lot of advice on this already but i am gonna stick my oar in too. I have done this a few times so this might be of some use. Whatever you have taken out of the tca you will need to take out of the track rod. Cut the amount you need to out of the middle of track rod, then put a chamfer on the two ends to be welded back together. By chamfering the ends it will give a stronger weld. Find a piece of mild steel tube that the track rod fits into and cut a two inch long sleeve. Slide the sleeve onto the track rod past the area to be joined. Square up your two ends to each other and weld them together. Grind the weld flush and then slide the sleeve over the welded area and weld up the ends. Job done. I am not saying it's the best way but i did this on my pop and it's been alright for the last 15 years.
Thanks for the welcome, i only wrote anything pre 72 will do because i couldn't think of anything that rhymed with 84. Guess i'll never be a rapper then.
Hi , everyone really like the site even if i don't understand what i am doing on this computer thingy. I have a 355 small block chevy powered pop which i have had for 16 years. It has been well abused and currently having a bit of a rebuild. I have had loads of old fords and just can't seem to kick the habit. Anything pre 72 will do .
