Well I just can't stay away! Finally, after god knows how long of wanting an old skool Ford again - it's on! My insurance claim is looking like it will be sorted with in the next few months (2 LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG YEARS!). Now have a daily sorted and a garage so its game on. Probably looking to get a Capri rather than an Escort. I've wanted one since I was knee-high and Escort prices are just ridiculous now, plus I've not had a Capri before. Not ruling out another Escort, Cortina or Granada yet though if I spot one that takes my fancy. Just awaiting funds in my account and then I will be shopping! Words cannot describe how excited I am right now, been waiting so long and its finally going to happen. Well chuffed!

Ha ha, scene is a word used by people to excuse the fact that they are doing exactly the same to their cars as friends/mags/internet and not thinking up their own ideas!

I can't say I'm hugely surprised this has happened. I think the police have been more than lenient and have turned a blind eye to a lot of the goings on at the Ace. If people are stupid enough to start pelting police cars with things then obviously this is going to stop. I'm not condoning the behaviour of the people doing donuts etc, just stating fact. It's probably a good thing as it's amazing nobody has been killed! More and more meets and events are being closed down by the police due to the behaviour of a minority. That's the problem with open events that anyone can attend, you are always going to get a few idiots who ruin it for everyone else. Maybe the way forward for the car scene is to form proper clubs with properly managed meets/events. I'd rather have to pay a membership and meet with like minded people who are capable of acting sensibly than get police attention draw to my car for being at a meet with a few morons (that's my 2p's worth anyway!).

Cool cool. Not going to let myself be talked out off it this time! I'm waiting for an insurance claim to come through after being rear ended, hopefully it won't drag on to long! Also going to sell the drift car I've been building as I've kind of lost interest since the accident, wasn't a big smash but still been off work for a month. Put me off motorsport in general really, can't afford to be injured for so long from such a minor bump! Should have a reasonable amount to spend on 1, get wheels and lowz. Happy days!

Lots of faffing and nearly a year on from deciding I want an old Ford again I'm coming up to being in a position where I can get 1. Only Problem is I am seriously short on space to keep 2 cars so it's going to have to be a daily drive. Garages are available near me but they have a reputation for being broken into or burnt out. I'm probably going to be looking at getting a MkII Escort more door. Is this going to make a realistic daily drive? I've owned plenty of old Fords before (thought they weren't as old then) so know the mechanics pretty well. I have a welder, although to say my welding is poor is an understatement - need to get better at that! Views welcome...

Nice car but totally wasted imo. Cars are made to be driven and enjoyed, not stuck inside.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not acusing Americans as a whole nor am I saying that the day shouldn't be marked. I just think its sad no one seems to remember the people killed through terrorism closer to home.

I have to say I'm slightly annoyed about all this. Yes, it was a tragedy and innocent people died but where is our day of rememberance for people killed by IRA bombs (which had a lot of American funding)? Every year they wheel this out like some how because it was mainly American lives lost it is worse.
