  1. A lovely day out and a stunning display of cars on your stand. Was nice to speak to you Paul. Your car is mint mate and given me a lot to get on with lol.
  2. Leaving the 500 at home for this one and taking the Escort Mk2 1300GL along. Will be on the Essex RSOC stand...the cars yellow and standard
  3. Wow, that really is stunning! Get cracking and finish it mate lol
  4. Stunning cars, thanks for keeping this thread alive Daz, that really is a lovely looking 4 door! My car is still completely standard at the mo, although i nearly bought some superlites at Ford Fair on Sunday lol. Work shall commence in the winter if she is still with me. Hope to see some of these stunners at Battlesbridge on Sunday. I'll be in mine (hopefully).
  5. Thanks for the responses. Will have a proper look at the old girl on Saturday and see what's up
  6. Hi all, I have a MK2 Escort 1300GL and there seems to be a lot of smoke coming from the engine bay. The temperature is normal and the smoke is constant, from start up and even once warm. It seems to be coming from the dipstick. Could this be a breather problem or am i looking at worn piston rings? Too dark to have a look this evening so will have a better look tomorrow. Also, I have been adding lead substitute when filling up with fuel. Thanks for any advice
  7. The only two pics I have at the moment. Gives you all an idea of what I am working with Huge thanks for all the great pics and the info, especially brakes wise Keep em coming!
  8. It's a four door Mick and thanks for the pics of your motor....thats sits really well! Brakes wise, i am sticking with the 13" rims so will look into the Hi Spec conversion. Going to pop into Burtons on Saturday to have a chat aswell. Keep the four door pics coming please!
  9. Great pics mate, looked like a lovely turnout. I was at Uxbridge Autoshow and wondered where all the osf's had got to.
  10. I will really try and make this on Saturday, but only having driven the car home after buying it last weekend i fear i may not make it lol Look out for a yellow mk2 1.3GL escort on the layby lol Hope to see you all there
  11. Hi, I have recently joined the site and have just acquired a yellow 1976 mk2 escort 1.3 GL which i will start subtly modifying. I've had a lot of inspiration from all your stunning motors and also a very warm welcome on my other post in old skool chat. The only two pics i have of the car: Look forward to bugging you all over the next few months!
  12. Very nice
  13. Your mk2 is stunning mate. Hope you don't mind me copying you in every way lol. Thanks
  14. Stunning cars!!! Thank you so much for posting all these pics...it's helped me decide to modify it lol! Think a suspension drop and minilites first. Also on the hunt for an engine lol Whats the best upgrade brakes wise. Servo route, capri??? Too much to think about but i think the cosworth is gonna become a hermit once this little project is done. I'm just loving the old skool...feel like a kid again. I will continue to pester you all in the coming months
  15. Awesome car Petrolhead, that's exactly what i want to do mate. Thanks for posting up the pics, i love it! Will get a few pics of my car tomorrow for al the standard GL lovers
  16. Great responses, thanks. Defo going to keep the exterior looking standard, but the engine defo needs a bit more power. 1600 it is, with some nice minilites to suit! Looking through this site for some inspiration.
  17. Thank you for moving this mods Also thanks to Smokem, just spoke to Colin and he has enlightened me with what to do Think i will go for the 1600 4branch twin 40's route. First things first though, minilites, lower it and sor the brakes. Any more info on who/where i can get parts/ engines etc would be appreciated. I can see why oldskool is the way forward!
  18. Hi all, I'm new to the site and also new to the older skool Fords, although I do own an RS500 (not old enough for you lot though lol). I've just acquired a yellow four door Mk2 Escort 1300 GL 76 plate and need some info please. I'm still unsure whether to modify the car as its only a 2 owner genuine 62k mile car with mots from 1989 to date. I feel it would be better to keep it as it is????? Now, this is very vague, but bear in mind i know sod all about these x flows and these cars. How much in general would it cost to upgrade to a 1600, looking for around 100ish bhp, what brakes (capri?) would be my best option and would like to lower the car on a set of minilites if i make my mind up to go for it. Also, i'm not too far from Burtons in Ilford so parts are a stonethrow away Is there anyone who does a drive in drive out conversion on these cars? Any other companies that are best on price/service would be great too. Thanks again for any help, and apologies about my vague and uneducated questions on this marque, but would love the car to sit nice and have a bit more oomph
