with my tin corner i needed a type 9 cause i use it everyday and just that extra gear makes a hell of a difference in saving fuel after ive done my b road blasting the first type 9 i had was out of a capri even though it was trashed (didnt know untill after fitting ) the speedo was correct..... the next box was out of a old saff and was five mph out so ive got to change the speedo drive gear, the box has been fitted for four years and still havent got round to it. but hey my car is 5mph faster now

you can wreak a car by choosing the wrong colour believe me some customers pick some strange colours (im a panel beater/sprayer) but man that looks stunning realy works well

when i moved to north wales aroud 6-7 yrs ago i met this guy phil through a salvage contact and he only lived round the corner from me, well you know what its like when you start toget to know someone you drive past on you way to work give them a wave or fums up, well one day i had to drop off some paper work round to phil for a motor he brought, as i pulled up by his drive and between all the cars i thought i saw a back end of a mk2 with the black back panel, i was like no way, at best it must be a done up mk2, gave phil the paper work and he told me about the rs, this thing was untouched except for a janspeed and thick with dust and he was the second owner it also had a quarter tank of 4star, well anyway he asked me to pop round his unit at the weekend if i liked his escort......he has 5 of them! all in diffrent stages of restoration 2 off them untouched, i begged like mad for him to sell me one but he wont have none of it, he got me to promise not to tell a soul where they are and im trying hard to get some pix taken to share with you guys and gals, my best mate phil lucky git, lol

the diff is slacker than my first girl friend (she was the village bike). there is no rumble at any speed. but there is a hell of a vibration from 60 onwards, like the prop is out of ballance but i took it off and had a couple of places test it while i was there, and there is nothing wrong with it.also my tina has only covered 80.000 miles. if the car was stood for a long time (3-4 yrs) then the oil was changed could the slack have do anything with it being stood still for so long????
-
thats what i thought, normaly i would rip the old axle out and put another in but that was 17 years ago and probably buy a tina with no t&t for a nifty 50, these days as parts are so hard to come by that you got to rebuild what you got.

i was thinking the muscle car look a bright colour like a orange matt black bonnet with a low but wide hood skoop and throw in a 350 v8 but if i did that it would end up as a weekend car, i dont like spoilers so a 28 ghia granny front lip is a no go, the white turbo zetec mk5 in retro ford looks kool.... my brother said matt black everything and fit a set of holed wellers on it and put a cossie motor in it and go saxo hunting lol i have loads of ideas and done afew of them on my old load lugger mk5.... so im just putting it out there and maybe your ideas might trigger something off in my head.

ive had afew show going cars that i restored & modded myself (panel beater & painter by trade)and i was thinking about restoring rustys body but i love the way she looks diffrent reds and red oxide primer she has at the mo 7x13 with yokos 2" burton springs and gaz shocks a type 9 5 speed unleaded head on her little 16 pinto soon tobe 2.0 zetec with a single box system and fit a lsd diff or a diffrent axle (not sure yet) the question is..........if she was yours what mods would you do?

awsome!!!! cars all sorted, thanks guys for your help this is what had happened after going through the system again i found ign switch wire shorting on the body so fixed that then tested coil and that was very weak and was producing a intermittent spark so the coil was up the sh!t but the spark was enough to test the dizzy and leads but no spark at the plug end, even with the points back in i had a idea what it was but needed to get on the blower to powerspark, what had happened was a coil can die 2 ways it can go weak then just stop working.....or like my car short out, wich blew the powerspark unit. so now i have a new performance coil uprated cap and arm and new powerspark unit and leads all from the nice guys from powerspark, didnt realy need the other bits but as it was rustys birthday i thought why not, for a little 1.6 she runs like a champ but i cant wait to put the zetec in when it warms up abit...thanks again for your help

no breaks in wire commin from ignition switch to the coil the electronic ign is a powerspark system (new)all earths are ok....just dont understand it?
-
no power any where in the system but years ago a friend had the same problem im not sure but i think it was something todo with ignition switch????? could that be right?

as some of you guys and gals know i have a 82 mk5 (80) cortina 16(at the mo) crusader.... dragged her out the nice warm garage this morning after her winter sleep. a bit of choke and she fired no problem (aint electronic ing great) let her warm up and took her round the block, forgetting the front subframe is only a inch off the ground...some sparks did fly, any way drove into my road she cut out, got her home took a plug out. no spark, ok so new plugs/leads/dizzy cap and arm. still no spark? ok new coil....still no bloody spark!cleaned all earths and all wires are still in good nick, BUT STILL NO SPARK! any ideas?

ive been offered a cast rs2000 mk2 manifold and down pipe in nearly new condition for peanuts of corse the manifold will bolt up to any pinto but does anyone know if there is enough room for the down pipe on a mk5 cortina? i know i will have to mod the standard down pipe on the exhaust on the car to slide the rs down pipe onto it. i tryed fitting a 4 branch off a capri but the angles were all wrong and it would take tomuch cutting and shutting to make it fit....the idea is to get rid of the stupid "O" ring idea on the standard mk5 exhaust manifold. cause where i live in northwales the exhaust takes a right beating and the O ring design just aint strong enough, also will a capri lsd fit into my english axle without tomuch trouble?
