As most of you know my job by now,

I am having a bit of a problem with work at the moment, here is the thing.....

I had to deal with a fatal accident on the M20 on Tuesday, it was really bad and things are starting to play on my mind, I haven't slept properly since Tuesday and just wanted to share my problem on here as a problem shared is a problem halved and all that...

I think that I have had one too many bad accidents to go to recently, I have had to deal with things that I don't like to have to do, ie picking up body parts, but no-one else is going to do it, so I have to....

Since Tuesday, when I go to sleep I keep having flashbacks to the accident and seeing the scene, I don't want to describe the things on here too much as its really not pleasant, I just wanted to have a chat with someone on here about it

Mate, I can sympathise with you .... my mate is a Fireman and has had to deal with lots of fatal incidents and remove unrecognisable bodies from vehicles and the stories are horrific.

I really think you should go and see someone professional who will know how to deal with this type of thing .... I know the fire brigade have someone they can go and see to chat about it and I'm sure that the police force have a similar set up.

By all means, chat to us here, but I would urge you to see someone who knows how to deal with this kind of stuff and do it soon before if really affects your home life and those that you love around you :big hug:

Yeh, I have got an appointment with welfare and counselling at work, but I have to wait a few days. As a Family Liason Officer, we have to have these 'chats' quite regularly, just think Im overdue my unloading session.

Good luck mate, you do a great job and have so much respect for you.

I'd love to put something back in the community in that way but I'm squeamish so I'd be sh!t  My gfs dad was watching traffic cops the other night and I kept thinking of you.

I don't think I can say anyone here's qualified to know what you're going through, but we'll always give moral support :D you do a sterling job and I thank you loads. Good luck with the unloading mate

Mate!

While i'm not in your line of work i have seen two people get killed. Both on the road. I know exactly where you're coming from. You're already in a better position in that you have built up a "tollerence" if you will, to dealing this sort of thing. But i'm sure that every incident still hits you as hard as the first did. You have the best people, professionally, at your disposal to help you through it. The only medicine is to talk and try and get past it.

I'll be an ear if you need one mate.

At the end of the day i'm glad that there is someone enforcing our roads who takes a bad situation this hard. If you could just dismiss it i'd have no time for you. The fact that you take it like this sows that you care....and because of that it makes you a damn fine Copper. :)

Chin up mate, and drop me PM if you want to.

i can understand where you are coming from i spent 6years in 24hr recovery clearing up the accedents and storing the vehicles, then having to take family members around the vehicles

and it does really affect you, i used to get quite upset thinking about it and worrying that this kind of thing could happen to my family and friends, unfortunatly it did happen to two friends on two seperate occations.

and i used to also feel sorry for the officers who had the task of breaking the news to familes.

again like many others on here i would also like to offer an ear if will help any.

m8 , i feel for you

I"m still getting flashbacks from the fatal i was involved in 2 years ago....sometimes i can be driving the truck on a normal road , in good weather etc ...and BANG ! ..... I SEE THAT FELLA 4 FOOT IN FRONT OF ME AGAIN.......theres nothing there , but i still slam the brakes on......it ain"t pretty , and it sh*ts the life out of me ......but , without wishing to sound soft in the head , with the help of my missus and the odd trip to the docs i am just about over it .

I hope you get the help you need m8 , talking to someone who is willing to just listen is 90% of the problem sorted....i wish you luck , and keep up the good work :D
