Conor Posted April 9, 2007 Author Report Posted April 9, 2007 just get a 2 litre instead Got one of those...a 205 injection motor with a Kent FR30 cam and 38DGV doing 97BHP at the wheels but it's going through a litre of oil every 200 miles and smokin like a trooper. Thing is I've got a recon 1.8 short motor in the shed and am trying to work out whether it'd be half decent with the injection head on.
alladdin Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 no, probably just a lower compression. best to buy a set of rings and some valve seals. give the bores a glazebust and it should be fine unless its really badly worn.
X-pack-Glyn Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 im sure the 1.8 has lower comp as were called eco somat or other, anyting with eco in the name is bad news really. a functional 2 litre bottom end should be around 50 quid.
