  1. on a std 1.3 x/f .... doubtfull on a full race motor .... certainly in between ..... "worth" depends on what you want from them. for me personaly , i get the pleasure of learning all about fuel inj and management....... others see that as a burden incidently, to answer the original question - the throttle body is basicaly a valve in the intake which simply controls the airflow into the engine, it doesnt need injectors as these can be elsewhere in the intake. carbs can be used as t/b's with mods to block fuel etc. most aftermarket bodies come with an injector fitment to simplify instalation and their use is summed up above.
  2. i believe its similar to galvafroid. im using zinga as i go with my resto. it doesnt adhere that well but, if you brush it off you find the steel benieth has taken on a layer of zinc. makes miging a sod tho i plan on using it and leaving put on the bits i wont get at in the future.
  3. whilst i can see the conection to pendine, its a fairly limited venue and the sands are no longer accessible to cars. it is however only 15 mins more to TENBY which is a very nice place to spend an afternoon (if you like small picturesque harbour towns ) just a thought.
  4. i guess as long as you have about 2mm "washer" thickness it should be ok ?
  5. i know what you mean there................. and i agree. the 3 door is a classic ford.end of. however i think the issues that people have are about what you are interested in. if c.f. was full of corsairs and model t's every month it would soon fold...... its a fact that they have to put an escort on the cover to hit the best sales figs...... as for me, are they a classic .... yes, do i want them in c.f ...... no! but i can live with the buyers feature since as gary said theres only so much to print.
  6. well since it would not be used on the road ,,,,, i reckon you could.i think and as for staining things........... just a wives tail. but the ministry dont just look at the colour , they do chemical tests, so i would guess that if they dip you they will find it.
  7. how do you spell day jaaa vooo i thought he seemed to have toned it down lately tbh.
  8. in case this is of any use, i recall that the calipers on the 1600E struts are opposite to std tina mk2 struts ie at back not front or visa versa
  9. was that your trailer stuff full of wheels for sale ?
  10. looking better all the time people see you all there.
  11. i wont be the only one in a " river 240" then? i hope i can find it in a sea of them when pissed
  12. more pics please looks v.good.
  13. very easily ! i hear that gloss household paint is good ?
  14. dont take this personaly, but ive never been able to get my head around why people pay large sums to be disfigured
  15. i would think the main question is " can you get a box build with these ratios for less than 1k " the sort of person that builds a no cost concours rs1800 will want it, cost no issue ................ unless he can get one built cheaper.
  16. also you need to remember that in order to gain that last few bhp , you might loose some of that broad top end spread. does look a little more possible tho. (having said that, what would i know )
  17. yes sorry, i didnt put what i meant very well. what im trying to get at is that it makes 200+ from 6150 to 8250 but the power climb starts to tail off more sharply after 6300. given that you said you can use 9k then i would have thought you should be able to find a bit more on the way up before it drops off. make sense?
  18. your certainly looking at the right area as once your engine hits 6300 rpm and 205 bhp its all down hill from there. thats std transit revs........ downhill i imagine there must be more to be had at the top.
  19. old thread i know but, what other 13 x 7 wheels will the 260 kit fit under. no guesses please
  20. megasquirt extra runs 2, dash switchable as gaz says. i see it as usefull when "playing at mapping" or for dual fuel etc. lpg? oily, 42mm t/b are available on lots of suzuki , or did you mean carbs?
  21. I know m8, as I Fireblade owner I very impressed with the range they cope with to. Red lines at 11000 rpm but will buzz around to 13000 before it hits the limiter. From idle to redline the fuelling appears faultless But they are just a carb aren't they?, and small ones at that, 38mm on my bike if I remember correctly although bigger ones are available on bigger bikes but most bikes are fuel injected now. Bike carbs are excellent on bike engines that they are designed for, all the fast osf's are on webers. If I believed that fitting smaller carbs would make me go faster I'd have bolted some on years ago. As for the fuelling, my cam and cylinder head are what make my engine behave the way it does the fact that I have overcarbed it doesn't help. If I bought some Weber 38 DCOE's fitted with the appropriate size chokes they would be as derivable as anything with bike carbs. i agree. people tend to forget why bike carbs started to get used --- 40 dcoe were / are very expensive and/or worn out so if you can adapt bike carbs at home instead of 40's then its worth a go.(imo) if you are looking at bigger carbs or have to pay for everything then its just a fashion trend. (imo) taking t/b's -- when you look at a "jenvey dcoe flange "style t/b you cant help thinking its a lot of £££ for what it is, afterall a dcoe is a complex item ?? hence the popularity of mc t/b which are almost as good for the job. im sure whene the first chinese versions of the weber style hit ebay they will be cheap as chips
  22. Have you ever taken one apart? yes mate and to be honest it really was full of thick oil very smelly too
  23. well i.... errrr.... suppose i have to concede that point
  24. calling a throttle pot a "spring" is like calling a quaif 6 speed sequential gearbox a "box of thick oil" it simply shows a complete lack of understanding. given that there are , er how many ? mondeos that have covered over 150,000 miles and are over 10 yrs old still going strong then no wonder you are busy if they all need a remap every 3 months if you get a break between transits , open an offshore account please realise this is just all in jest .......
