  1. theres no top ring on billys, you need to unscrew the whole insert . as said above, now you have removed the lock nut you need to unscrew the insert from the bottomplate.try heating strut base.
  2. i thought so too. lets hope some reality has returned.
  3. out of interest what spec was the zakspeed escort ? or did i miss it already?
  4. i got the same one from aldi a year ago, blows tyres up without starting my "real one" quality is pretty poo but does a job. that sounds a bit off !!, no offence meant, just a comment on price /quality trade off
  5. t/b 's and ecu 's aint cheap, but the r.f. package aint bad value realy considering its an emerald ecu with a (probably) decent base map for a std 2.0
  6. i beleive all primers are porous?
  7. easy weight saving there...
  8. not when your as old as me it aint
  9. how many miles a year on average out of interest then
  10. escorts use circa 160 i think, not tried them tho....
  11. i dont think its much in 2 freshly built motors?
  12. there are only 2 reasons to fit bike carbs. 1, you want to be different just cos you can. 2, you cant afford webers. this is the only reason bike carbs have become popular. nothing wrong with CORRECTLY SET UP bike carbs but if i could afford webers then i would choose the proven route.
  13. in my experiance , yes.
  14. raldes ones are also billet, not cast anymore.
  15. would be better full width i feel, also i have now discovered the silver which im switching to as like a few others have said , the black and white is very harsh on the eyes.
  16. another viewpoint. well i have to say i think the aproach being taken is a sensible one. will i "contribute"? no, not financialy. i use several forums and simply could not do so if i had to pay. i feel i do contribute tho, i give help/advice where i can , after all thats why i use the forum, to give and recieve information. if the technical forums ever get locked i will simply stop using the site which would be a shame. one more point, the westfield forum restricts classifieds to members only (which im not), i feel they lose out more than non members due to this ? is osf worth £12 a year ? i would say it is as a stand alone site, just not to me. just my thoughts.
  17. you cant just undo the nut and pull the insert out, the insert is also threaded into bottom of strut so has to be screwed out. personaly i would whack it off (within reason !), top mnts are pretty robust.
  18. as others have said i prefer mis spelling to text talk tho im another dinasaur. i always think i can spell untill i read my posts
  19. your lumps been well flushed so it should take some time in my opinion ?
  20. Do they Yes... otherwise you wouldn't need service kits for webers... Bike carbs are a far better design... i dont agree here sorry. sevice kits are for webbers that have wear / leaks / faults. normaly as a lot are possibly 30+ yrs old. they can go out of balance as can bike carbs. one point to remember. take a set of "base jetted" webers to your local rr and the guy can jet them to SUIT THE ENGINE. take a set of "base jetted" mikunis and chances are you are out of luck. for me the cost of old/worn webers is the main reason to go bike so i would want them for less than 600 notes. and im not anti bike bits... do prefer t/b's tho.... just my view
  21. just to clarify, if i bring a zafira full of kids can i take advantage of this or do i need to come in via front door ? since the 13 is not the bank holiday i might swing this one!
  22. no, probably just a lower compression. best to buy a set of rings and some valve seals. give the bores a glazebust and it should be fine unless its really badly worn.
  23. ive got a few m.s. maps if it will help? what induction?
