350moggy Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 Hi guys I have a 24v granny lump installed in my capri but I cant get it to run I have modded the loom myself and I thought that that was the problem but a mate came over with another loom ecu and edis6 module and it still wouldnt start so that eliminates the loom ! I have a spark and all the injectors are firing bat it still wont start. So today I got a tow and tried to bump start it and it ran for a few seconds then died so I tried again and gave it some revs to keep it running and it revved up quite nicely(ie not lumpy ) then died on me ! I am losing my patience with it now so if anyone has any ideas no matter how small please let me know and I will try them out by the way the granada was running ok before I took the engine out and i haven't taken it apart enough to adjust the cam timing ! Cheers Richie
Mr Sam Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 is it fully electronic ignition? you got all the sensors puged in does it have an air meter? lambda sensor? checked all the plugs all the earths nice and clean?
350moggy Posted April 8, 2007 Author Report Posted April 8, 2007 yeah its fully controlled by the ecu for timing and fuel All the plugs are fully home and have done continuity tests to make sure that I have everything I need :- maf sensor water temp sensor charge temp sensor throttle position sensor idle speed control valve sensor lambda sensors as well as power to the injectors and the coil pack and all the earths and lives are onto new terminals ! I think that I'll change the fuel pump and filter tomorrow to see if it makes a difference I have already had new plugs and a new battery as well
Mr Sam Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 sorry i meant electronic injection but you got what i meant was it a running engine beforehand ? and has it been sitting a while?
350moggy Posted April 9, 2007 Author Report Posted April 9, 2007 Yeah I had it running in the granny before i took it out but I think that it has been sat for a while before that !
Mr.Sumo Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 sounds like a fueling problem m8...make sure the fuel pump is priming and you got a feed to the injectors....thats as much as i can offer in advice good luck
PAUL MANN Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 HAS IT GOT A FUEL PUMP RELAY,CAN YOU BY PASS IT ,IT MAY BE PLAYING UP
oldskool100e Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Is the fuel tank venting OK? Fuel pump mounted low enough to prime? Big enough outlet on fuel tank? Just some thoughts, I may be talking boll*cks... (as usual...)
