Touch wood, we've been pretty lucky with ebay. I've only only sold 1 car on there, that went OK. Did have 1 numpty recently tho, he won 3 magazines at about £3.20 inc postage... sent the invoice, he replies asking for the address to send a cheque (which he already had) so I told him. Waited over a week... no cheque. I sent him a very polite message telling him this, saying maybe it was lost in the post. Another couple of weeks go by, still no cheque, I contact him again... he's been 'too busy' to post it, and he will post it tommorow... a further week goes by and I report him to ebay... and I still didn't hear from him. He ended up with a feedback score of -2, 3 positive and 5 negative, all for things he'd bid on and not collected or paid for...

Keep the faith... We've all been in same situation at some time, I remember when I had my MK1 Sceptre, coming in from the garage and telling the misuss I was going to scrap it whe I discovered the front inner wheel arches were made of fibreglass but I repaired them, even if I did set my overalls on fire in the process... Now I try to look at like this... when you have sorted one job out, think 'now the car is better... so it's worth sorting out the XYZ...' then when you've sorted that, the car is better still, so it's worth sorting something else out... sounds a bit daft I know, but it's worked for me in the past. I would also seriously look at sorting the Astra or getting another daily driver... I think not having to rely on the Escort would make all the difference.

Sounds like a similar situation a chap I know had... fell out with his neighbors over a boundary dispute, next thing the council are round saying he's running a woodworking business... he was renovating the house, making his own window frames ect... I'm lucky with my neighbor, my garage shares a wall with their house so I try to be considerate and I ask him if he has any problems... It helps that he's got a Z28 Camaro with straight pipes...

I remember reading a piece in 'Street Machine' in the late 80's when people were complaining about the 'boy racers' at the Chelsea cruise... in their 1760 Burton powered MK2 Escorts It was pointed out that they were only doing what the hot rodders had been doing 30 years before, making an old car go faster... what goes around comes around!

Walking past our local srcappy last night, spotted a Mk1 or 2 escort van on top of a pile of cars... will try to get some pics later.

I heard it had changed... but I would still have to hide it inside a copy of '50+' to avoid embarrassment...

Years ago I bought a Austin Ambassador which should have been a 2.0, but had been fitted with a 1.7 engine... my insurance company needed a letter from a garage saying the swap had been done properly... even though both engines are identical externaly... Whe I was ringing round for quotes for the Anglia, one company (a specialist with a full page ad in 'Classic Ford') asked me my age and what I'd been quoted, then said they couldn't match it, without asking for any details of the car... ... they then put me through to another company who had no idea what a 100E Anglia was... alarm bell started ringing when the chap asked me the reg No, and said "Isn't there a letter before the numbers?"...

Could be a good idea IF people used it right... but we're talking ebay, so that ain't gonna happen...

Dont you ever get fed up with it.....
oldskool100e replied to X-pack-Glyn's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
I used to run old cars as daily drivers, I would get fed up with it quickly and end up buying a 'modern' car (which at the time meant something like a Morris Ital... ), then I'd get fed up with that, buy another old one and start all over again... Now luckily I can have one as a toy and run a modern car (well, an 11 year old Megane ) as well. But since I've been on this forum I have been having ideas about looking for a MK2 Escort, Mk5 Cortina or Capri as a daily... -
took some pictures of this rotten away mk2 ..

...last night, bearing in mind we've watched every episode of both series, 5 minutes in my missus said (of Gene's Cortina) "what sort of car is that, then..." Wouldn't have be so bad, but I've had 2 of 'em... ...To be fair, she's usualy pretty clued up on old motors... comes of living with me...
