bob wiggins Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 has any one got a picture of alloy top mounts and the sleeves and nuts before they have been assembled , ive bought some and cant manage to put them together without play in the tops think i might have a piece of the kit missing thanks in advance
Twinkle Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 m8 you need the tophats that go indide the bearing and you drill them out to suit the strut insert
bob wiggins Posted April 12, 2007 Author Report Posted April 12, 2007 mate i did that still seems theres something missing just dont understand it and need it sorted by this weekend
Twinkle Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 put some pics of what you do have and how they are fitted
bob wiggins Posted April 12, 2007 Author Report Posted April 12, 2007 sorry mate cant do dont have a clue how to do that which is why i asked if anyone had pictures of the kit before assembly
Gareth Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 I had the same problems wit some RTM's I bought, had to put a spacer under the nut
RETRO_AL Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 have yuo got the correct nut on the top? my nut slides into the bearing
bob wiggins Posted April 12, 2007 Author Report Posted April 12, 2007 my nut slides into a coller which sits inside the bearing, well it would do if the top of the strut wasnt as long as it is because the nut wont go down further than the thread on the strut top ,seems as thouth the rod on the top of the insert is an inch too long ,the struts are billies and the tops are identical as a pair of rs2000 legs that i have
ratman Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 my top hat nut was supplyed over size and then you cut it down to suit i had to take 15mm off mine but now all sorted my legs are billies with rally design r/j top mounts
