I have been looking at buying an LSD for my mk2,would i be right in thinking im looking at about £300 for a good a second hand LSD?ive been looking through the Rally Design catalouge and a brand new Quaife ATB is only £415 so im thinking id rather spend that and have a brand new unit however........im led to believe that the LSD and ATB work differently :? ive heard that the ATB does'nt(or trys not to) lock the diff ? is'nt that the point of the LSD? can anyone shed any light on the subject :D

go 4 a plate type lsd mate, i wouldnt spend £300 on a 2nd hand one which probably needs a rebuild anyway, you can get a new steel one for about £400 ish and worth every penny :ykt:

I've seen lots of OSf's with great engines then skimp on a descent lsd.

the guy's are right. buy a descent one and you will wish you did it years ago.

Go for plate type, works best for what we like doing

The problem with ATBs is that they only work with the power going through them, ie hard throttle, or say you come to a corner and wish to hang it out so you go for it get it sideways and all is ok until you take your foot off the pedal then instead of a nice even take up of normal drive ie as in the plates slipping in a plate type the ATB stops working and if your not to careful you end facing the wrong way

I have a plate LSD that I was going to put on Ebay, was going to put it on a good 4:1 which usually sells complete for around £400 but if you just want the LSD for £300 or on a good 3:89 for £350 or drop a diff off to me I will build it up for you.

I think Burtons charge around £450.
