  1. My old Mk1 Mex rep did about 155mph, 16v hot rod xe, 5 speed, 3:5 diff. Then changed to a 3:7 diff as more fun!!!
  2. Will be there if not racing, may also be in a OSF for a change
  3. Look gr8 Are they 7s with 185/60s? Thinking about getting some for the Cortina.
  4. If you dont have a new style v5 or no v5 whats so ever you will probably be asked by VOSA to have a VIC check carried out at one of there testing stations across the country, this is to stop people ringing cars but also if your car is not so standard anymore they may say that they will have to do an SVA test on it and then they will give you a new reg number and depending on mods may not be tax free anymore as this happen to a friend of mine with his street rod!
  5. Wet meeting last night, first time in this car. Won the first heat , 4th in the second and got 3rd in the final . Lets hope its dry for the next meeting on the 9th June.
  6. My old xe mk1 had around 250bhp and has never broken anything on road or track yet. It has a standard type 9 5 speed box, one piece prop, 3:77 diff with plate LSD, 1 inch blocks and decambered single leafs, spax shocks, no tramp bars or link setup just bog standard! Using 185/60x13 Yokos 032rs.
  7. Dont know if that engine as ever been in a RWD car before, but its the Volvo T5 engine m8, have alook on some Swedish sites as they do quite afew mods to there cars!
  8. Xr4 diffs are not the same as Cosy diffs, they not so strong. What sort of power are you talking about as have put over 250 bhp through english diffs all the time and have not broken 1 for many years in racing.
  9. Yes Glyn, if you know what your doing you never have to adjust your cam timing again on a x/flow after building it, thats why most people use offset timing pegs! But if you change your cambelt you have to adjust it again and as the belt always stretches as it gets older your timing is never spot on our x/flows stay true
  10. If you have never built up a diff before dont try it yourself as you could damage your diff in afew miles if its not right Its all done by feel and dti gauges m8. Fitting the LSD is easy but you need to set up the diff again after you have fitted it.
  11. I have a plate LSD that I was going to put on Ebay, was going to put it on a good 4:1 which usually sells complete for around £400 but if you just want the LSD for £300 or on a good 3:89 for £350 or drop a diff off to me I will build it up for you. I think Burtons charge around £450.
  12. If the engine is standard the rocking rule is ok but if you have a cam in your engine use the rule of 9 as is more of a true reading. Dont forget that if you have a performance cam fitted the clearances will be different from a standard engine. If you set a performance cammed engine using standard clearances you will cause damage to your engine
  13. The Ford Isis has been on our computers for awhile now as its sold in europe. Its all change at Ford at the moment new Mondeo, Fiesta, Ka, C max, Maverick, also they are building joint cars with Fiat They dont use Ford engines anymore, petrols are Mazda or Volvo and diesels are Peugeot I think true Ford is no more
  14. Go for plate type, works best for what we like doing The problem with ATBs is that they only work with the power going through them, ie hard throttle, or say you come to a corner and wish to hang it out so you go for it get it sideways and all is ok until you take your foot off the pedal then instead of a nice even take up of normal drive ie as in the plates slipping in a plate type the ATB stops working and if your not to careful you end facing the wrong way
  15. Is that why you where on the side of the motorway the other day? Was coming back from racing but was going the other way.
  16. Only 8 cars last night Won the first heat only 5th in the second heat as the rear brakes got a bit hot and came 3rd in the final, will also have to get new tyres for next meeting and at £277 a pair they not cheap Next meeting 27th May

  24. Mine and Phils new car will be in the live action arena this year as Dave has borrowed it back for the weekend and his new car is on a show stand as a rolling shell. Hope he looks after her
  25. I owned the car for a few years, was on e-bay last year, tried to make contact with owner but did not get back to me, I know most of its history as I was the second owner after import. See page 8 Escorts album.
