Sounds like you already had a mk2 rack fitted, course thread (metric) as std mk2 track rod ends have a thinner taper (metric) than a mk1 or RS leg. mk2 RS track rod end has course thread and larger taper. Be very carefull as you can fit mk1 or mk2 track rod end tapers too incorrect legs which could become loose

Nice one James, Daytona? Hasn`t it already got disc`s on the front? Got brake servo which if factory came with front disc`s. If you change front struts to mk2 don`t forget you have to change the steering rack aswell. Keep us updated m8, new MOT on mine now, straight through

No probs m8, it was quite a laugh when me and Dave Sweetland turned up at AVO national day in our Mexs as they are very rare. Dave S had pin stripe mine had decals. Was in the AVO club for many years, my dad brought a mex in 76 when it was a year old and traded it in for a mk5 cortina ghia! Always had escorts and the 1st mex I had was a daytona 72 which must have been early 90s, then I got the tawny 72, and also had a black 72 which used to be daytona. Left the club a couple of years ago as got into yanks but cant leave the escorts alone! Nice mex Mr Freeze, sorry to butt in Ive seen white decals on vista mexs before but black is much better.

You can use the RS2 bellhousing on 2.8 4 and 5 speed boxes but a 3 litre box is different and not worth using. If you got a Xflow its better to use a cast Sierra bellhousing and a Pinto use a RS2 bellhousing, but you also need a clutch cable plate if your not using the RS2 sump.

I have never had the input shaft machined, all I have ever done is cut it down and finished it of with a grinder, done this also with all the boxes used in our race cars, never had a problem. Also saves on stripping down the box to get the input shaft out.

Ex press steel panels do alloy door skins but there not cheap. You fold them over like normal skins and bond them instead of welding them.

At present there are 2 LVX 942J Escort rally cars on the show seen, but which one is the real one The answer is they both are and there both not Both cars are NOT the shell that left the factory when new but they both were used in rallying by Ford using the LVX 942J reg This has also happened with 000 aswell afew years ago.

Most people take that tag off and put the old one back on, we do at work but we also make a note in the service book and put it on the computer system.

A lot of Mexs where used in rallying in there early days and may have had a `Sevice Shell` used, which has no VIN number on strut top or tag on slam panel. I use to own a 72 black Mex which had a later shell that was a type 49 shell from Ford as was total in rallying, you try explaning to a buyer why it had a clutch cable hole and late rear suspension on an early car!

All depends how you drive Throttle works both ways Used to get good consumption with 16v on 45s but did have a 5 speed and you didnt need to thrash it to be quick, 16v are very torquey but so is a good pinto

The chrome wheel is a call Modular by American Racing but could be a copy, early Mustangs have 4 stud fixing on 6 cylinder cars and later cars also used 4 stud but it is a different PCD to the british Ford.
