Admin Vista Posted June 7, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 7, 2007 Pistons hitting valves at high speed? There's bound to be some damage to the pistons, but assuming they're the same size the ones out of your old engine should be reusable with perhaps a new set of rings. What's wrong with just fitting new bearings to your current block?
RUSTYPUP Posted June 7, 2007 Author Report Posted June 7, 2007 If there are some marks in the crown of the piston, then I wouldn't be too concerned as there pistons are usually very thick there. There is nothing wrong with changing the bearings in my engine and I will be doing that later, but I'm thinking that there will be some debris floating about in there from the oil pump disintergrating and I think it will be quicker to swap the head over. And cheaper. New oil pump £130 New mains £40? New bigends £30 This other engine is only £80 and think of the spares
RUSTYPUP Posted June 7, 2007 Author Report Posted June 7, 2007 Anyway, got to go to sleep now or nothing will get done coz I will die. Goodnight
