Invasion from Poland!

Just stopped for lunch at the M4/A34 services today and there was a car transporter with 5 Mk.2 Escorts and 2 Mk.1 s on, going from Poland to Ireland! Whatever next, thing is they seemed to be pretty average condition, usual corrosion, one had flat plate welded in place of a floorpan. Shame I didnt have a camera on me. The driver could not speak any English though he did manage to say 'retro'.

 

I was going to put Polish Invasion as the subject but then though you might think this was a thread about a show!

Seems to be an awful lot of them head over there, my engine builder says that more than 80% of the engines he builds go over there for motorsport use.

They are coming in here from all over. Portugal and Spain as well. I even heard of a Mk1 coming from Australia

Quite a few mk1's come from Australia, JRE motorsport ship them from there, this LHD one came from portugal but he's doing a RHD one from Oz right now

If there for restoration purposes i'm happy for em, its the people who just want to hoard them and then try and sell you a rotter for a couple of grand that I don't like!

Escort - Tec also import some cars from Australia, last time I went they had an Mk2 RS2000 ina dark blue which had no rust (or engine & box I seem to remember) going for £2- £3k
