cab_mk1 Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Morning all After a visit to the pod at the weekend I have been inspired! I am pretty new to all this and although I have a mk1 escort at the moment that is "In progress" it will never be used for anything more wild than blatting round the country lanes. I want more! I am looking at buying another RWD OSF purely for fun but my question is, although the car I want to build will be road legal and will be used on the roads, where can I go and or what sports/events can I go to that will allow me to rag the car around and get some sideways action. Another consideration I have is my son is 5 years old and mad on old fords, he had his first rally experience at the pod on sunday and hasn't stopped talking about it since, so ideally I'd like to get in to something that allows him to sit in. Anyone have any recommendations Cheers Lee
Admin Mk2Jo Posted June 12, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 12, 2007 You can do track days - all you need is your normal road licence. Or you could get yourself an MSA non race licence and do sprinting (Turbosport have their own Sprint Champ running at the moment - I'm sure Gary or Al will enlighten you) or you could join in with our OSFDC - drag championship (you may have seen a few of our cars there this week-end ). As a "club", Old Skool Ford have various meets to drive to and attend around the country. We have local blasts around the countryside - we even have our own London to Brighton run on 1st July. The list is endless ..... Also, lots of us have kids that we bring along to the various events
Twinkle Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 m8 the mk1 is versatile enough to have fun, do track days and also take your sun for a blast. or you could do like i am, i have a mk1 well a work in progress, which is gonna be a single seat fully stripped out car purely for me to play on and compete in the osfdc and i also have a mk2 escort which is being built and hopefully finished in the next couple of weeks that will be a road car with a full interior and rear seatbelts so the family can come play and go to the shows together, although my wife will be also racing it in the drag championasip too. what i used to do with my old car was just srtip out or refit the interior depending on what i was using it for, you would be surprised how quickly you can strip or refit a mk1 interior
