petrolhead01 Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 i like so many others spent last week making sure i had the car looking tip top, had all my gear for this weekend and some spares in case of the worst!!! but if some one had told me the events of this weekend i wouldn't have believed it possible!!!! i usually work sat mornings ,so i booked the day of and arranged for" me bitch"(calam) to come to mine( ruislip from croydon)for 9am to meet up with all the others and convoy to the pod!!! he hit some traffic and finally arrived about 10am but as he stopped outside my workshop his gearbox shit itself, undeterred i rang a guy who might have one and luck would have it he did so of i went to get the box leaving calam and steve(boibay) to start removing the old one!!!! anyway got the box and in two hours we were on our way!!! come on!! had a great drive to the pod and on the last leg stopped of to get some stella's on the way!! got to the gates and showed my ticket for the Sunday only to be told by the miserable git on the gate " sorry mate i will have to confiscate those , no glass on site" and took our 20 bottle case and put them in his office's then said we had an hour till the next shift came on and they wouldn't be there after that!!!! i thought cheeky fookers not nicking my beer !!!!! we were told that we could have them if we decanted them into something else!! so we ended up with 20 bottles of stella in the cool box with the ice blocks to chill them!!! great.but at least the jobsworth didn't get them!!!! anyway they got polished off pretty quickly and a good night was had except for the no sleep issue!!! cheers loubie!!! woke up sat morning not to happy with still being knackered but was looking forward to a good days racing !!! so signed on, queued up and now my turn!! yay, lovely burn out , purged the gas ,,,,,,,,,,, ready, steady, BANG!!!!!and was then pushed by the marshals!! thanks guys to behind the ice cream truck next to the barn !!!! and this was the culprit for said noise!! i have broken plenty of half shafts in the past but none so nicely twisted with a break that can only be described as cleaner than a laser cut!!!! awesome, it now has pride of place on the "!wall of shame with the c.w.p that i tore all but 11 teeth off!!!!! but even with all of this i wouldn't swap my car for anything else!!!! my mate steve came with me this weekend , and it was his first taste of how we do it and he obviously liked it his mk4 fiesta, big wheels, lowered, subs etc would usually cut the mustard with the ladies but he recons he spent all the way to and back from the pod watching peoples reactions as me and calam cruised up the motorway (and even after all of this shite this weekend) has got the old skool bug big time and his car is now for sale to fund his new dream car !!!!!!! an old skool ford pop!!! oh there was some good news though, i won an osfdrc" best burnout " trophy and much to my surprise my car was picked out of all the cars there by the NSRA(national street rod association) as best car of show and got another trophy and a vip pass to there big show at the end of the month!!!!! OLD SKOOL RULES!!! so too sum up a great weekend with good mates !! special thanks to calum and steve and vickie for all there help with fixing the car!! went like clockwork!!! quite a crowd too and a round of applause when in under an hour it was done!!!
