does anyone have the horseshoe clip for the speedo cable on a mk1 escort xflow (gearbox end)? apparently not knowing how fast/slow your going is an offence in the eyes of the law.

Yeah, your right, it is an offence, but the worst will be a speeding ticket.

On an MoT, the fact that there is a speedo fitted is usually enough. Obviously, if there is no cable, that is different as they will quite easily see that from under the car.

As long as you don't say anything to a copper, there is no way they can check, or even suspect there is anything wrong. No speedo is 100% accurate, and if a copper wants to book you for speeding, they have to have an extra speedo/speed equipment fitted, and it must be calibrated every now and then. You are also within your legal rights to ask them for proof of the calibration as well.
