  1. I very occasionally pop in for a look, although I find I spend most of my online time on Retrorides or Autoshite. Its all your fault anyway, it was only old Fords when I joined here and now its ANYTHING interesting (it doesn't even have to be that old either, my current daily is a tuned '96 Volvo 940 2.3s Turbo) EscRot has been off the road/written off for 12months now and I'm starting to get to a point where I miss it everytime I go out in another car. I've not even collected any parts yet, looks like I really need to pull my finger out...
  2. Ive had escRot for 5 and a half years now, I bought it March '06. Longest Ive owned a car, and I've got absolutely no plans to flog it. Infact, its high time I spent some real money on it.
  3. We had an awesome 10days on hols. 1st weekend we went to the RetroRides Gathering near Cheltenham, fabulous weekend of camping, dicking about with cars and hillclimbing. Then from there we drove to Exeter for a night before carrying on to Helston, Cornwall for 4days in a caravan. Then the monster drive from Helston to Headcorn on bank holiday Friday for the Smallworld music festival before back home to Leeds on bank holiday Monday itself. Completed 1200miles in escRot full to the brim of camping gear. A great way to reaquaint myself with it
  4. Its actually quite a slow corner although its not hugely apparent from the angle I took the pictures from just how steep it is. There was some sketchy moments there through the day as folks started to get abit bolshy with it....
  5. Thought I should bosh my pictures from RRG here as there was some tasty old Fords about the place all weekend. Firstly, the stuff that was on the campsite: Then, onto the showfield: and finally, the track: EPIC weekender, lots of tidy old metal and some proper laughs to be had on the campsite. Can't wait for next year now
  6. By all accounts it was a fractured halfshaft causing it to lurch sideways sending it into a flip. Truely, deeply, sad times. Rest in peace KC.
  7. Theres also the argument that any concession on road tax, IE over 25yr rolling exception, means they have more control over your driving habits. I mean they could say, 'yeah you can have free tax, but you can't use the car for work, you must have another car insured in your name and are banned from using it in city centres' Thats how it is on the continent and being a part of the EU, its how it will eventually be here. Why quicken the process...? No, I'll keep paying for tax and use MY car whenever I want.
  8. I had this problem. New panels are like hens teeth, nowhere seems to be doing repo (which is what would've suited me best) so Ive just made a couple of flat steel panels and welded the buggers in. Its not pretty, but its pretty solid. Cutouts are availible from GS Escorts though...
  9. The red one that had the unmistakable offbeat rumble of an RV8? It was mega clean, it just happens to be one of the many that I didn't get a snap of. Did you get any/many mike?
  10. A fantastic turnout for yesterdays HotRod meet, filled out by some attendees of todays Ink and Iron show I imagine. Plenty of metal/glassfibre/carbon that Ive not seen before, including one particulally heroic chap who turned up in a proper dragcar, who needs numberplates eh? Great to see and talk to Morrisoxide and his dad, Polodragin, ZetecVan and Nevins also we saw MissAntix and her chap (beautiful Mercury guys). Anyways, pictures... This pickup has modern(-ish) Japanese running gear, shown here read for its MOT on monday morning... Slacker-mobile looking good with green metal-flake Mega modified V8 Mk2 Consul/Zodiac. Very professionalally 2doored with, what looked like, mk3 Cavalier door handles, custom rear wings and nose treatment too. Dogdishes, bigblock and flawless paint. Hawt. Big Buick is refreshingly careworn I heard this arrive in the carpark, the young 'un in the passenger seat was wearing huge ear defenders, made me laugh anyway. Torino, I believe... This struck me as an early mk3 Gasser stance rocks. I think I prefered this in cream though Like it says, FirePower. Satin Black HA viva looked suprisingly good. Needed lows to make the Coddington billet work IMHO LowVo, was low. Charlotte said it looks like a coffin. A compliment, I thought... Unusual nose treatment left me a little cold. This NewYorker was massively patina'd also, just plain massive. Aussy Falcon, this beast seemed loved. Mad-low Saab Now then, this was a treat, when this pulled into the carpark (thats right, this drove into the carpark!) the earth seemed to shake. I had to bide my time to get a clear shot of it as, understandably, it had a crowd around it for most of the evening. What a pleasent combo. I bet that it makes for chilled out summer cruising and camping. AirRide Fleetside How gawky do these look, especially with no front bumper Wedge indeed. Fury-ious. There was loads of bikes, the Slaves were out in force. This one took my eye in particular. Another well proportioned 'rod with a period powerplant Understated KG is a nice colour. I just have to try and take one of these shots every month Some of these bikes really can shift.... 'its just a six-banger, 'onest mate' RatRod, I bet it fairly shifts too... Yeah, sorry for the view mike.... MissAntix and her Chap... Huge (I can only Imagine Khan or some such company) wheels Mopar Porn Mexs' rest in the carpark. BOSS Made me feel guilty that escRot won't be this clean for years to come.... B-body love Bar the 'colour-coded' lights, I quite like this... Thats all for this month.
  11. Right. I was there on Sunday. With the meet being at 12, I sat from 12 till 1 but saw no-one (I was only in the Prelude though, as escRot is SORN). I tried to ammend the first post with the correct date and time, but I can't find the edit button If folks are still interested I'll get the thread in order and see you all next month Dave
  12. BUMP. This is on agian this weekend. As soon as I find the edit button I'll change the details in the 1st post.....
  13. That looks smart Dave. I like the use of Mondeo wheels I, personally, would be sticking a zetec in it, but it'll go well enough with a sorted pinto. i had a 1800cvh Saph, nice car until I tried parking it on some railings at 70mph... I look forward to seeing this sometime in 2011
  14. Its an entertainment program. Its not a comedy show, its not supposed to make you laugh solidly every episode. Take it a face value, a car based entertainment program with a huge budget, thats generally visually fantastic and sometimes makes you laugh. Sounds about perfect to me. And for the record, I really enjoyed both of the recent episodes.
  15. I'd like to chirp in with Hawkwind, ELO, Creedence Clearwater, Supertramp, Canned Heat, Tom Waits, NOFX, Primus, old Chilli Peppers. But then I also like to have some Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers, Drifters, Coasters, Fats Domino, Stray Cats and allsorts of random stuff in the car.
  16. Does that sound cheap to anyone else...? It'll be interesting to see what can be squeezed out of one
  17. bumpity for this weekend. Listen chaps, Im sorry about being more than a little lax with this. I will be there this time, although it'll be in the e30
  18. Another month past, another fantastic selection of metal at the monthly Leeds Yank/Rod/Classic meet. In no particular order...
