Von Loxlee Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 i have no idea which one is which only that they look all the same to me and they are damn cool! can anyone give me a rundown of which one is which
Nettles Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 That particular shape to my knowledge went by three model names. There was the Anglia 100e and the Popular 100e and the Prefect 107e. I believe that the Prefect only came as a four door where as the others came in both two and four doors. I not sure what years that names ran from though. We’ve just brought a Popular 100e for Mrs Nettles and that is a 1959 two door model. Hope this helps.
Von Loxlee Posted July 15, 2007 Author Report Posted July 15, 2007 yeh thats awesome cheers! why did they name them differently though? lol did they just not have different trim types back then so instead of them all being populars and then being like ghia, l, ls etc they just named them completely different things?
fairlane500 Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Hello mate. Popular,Anglia and Prefect all came as 100e models. The Anglia and Popular were two door and the Prefect was four door. They were all fitted with the 1172cc sidevalve engine. The 107e was a later version and only came as the Prefect in four door, fitted with the 997 pre-crossflow engine as fitted to the 105e. Hope that helps.
V8Devon Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 The Anglia 100E was available as a standard and deluxe up until September '59 when the 105E came out. The Popular was a 'bargain basement' car sold alongside the 'new' Anglia, hence the two names. Pretty much the same as had happened for the upright models before.
escortmad79 Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 100E Anglias & Populars were only available in 2 door. Prefects were the only ones available as 4 door

The Popular 100e may have been the “Bargain basement” model but it was also available as a “Deluxe” model which offered the buyer all the upgrades available from the previous Anglia 100e.
Nettles Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Thatz cool. Still trying to figure out what mods to do to Mrs Nettles 100e.
