I put the rose jointed track control arms on my escort, also a twin cam antiroll bar which was thicker and which also pulled the legs forward to increase the caster.Made a big differance. Depends how far you want to go but I also checked for toe-out when the suspension went through its travel(took the springs off and moved the car up and down whilst using track gauges to read results at various hieghts) Made adjustments by spacing the steering rack off its mounts until the readings stayed toe-in or parallel through its whole movement. Lots of small things add up to a fine handling car PS:Just another thought, before you even start altering stuff make sure your tyres are good quality items and not mis-matched.Also tyre pressures make a big differance, check there correct,no point setting it up on duff tyres with no air!!

Try and get yourself a mk4/5 escort estate 1600 diesel,I sold mine on ebay a couple of months ago for £250. I owned it for 10 years,it had covered 185000 miles(90000 miles with me) and still returned 55mpg and it never let me down!! Only reason I sold it was I had to many cars after buying the wife a newer daily and I had here old car (a Toyota, another good mile muncher) Worth looking out for as parts are still available through breakers. -
You think youve got problems,Ive just bought a Morris Marina...2 door of coarse Dont let the comments get to you.....its an old Ford so be proud of it!

Before you take the plunge have a word with an insurance company, you may find they wont insure you unless you comply to all the latest regs. And dont even think about employing anyone, health and safety, wages, insurance, paye contibutions, rates, rent, electricity, commercial waste disposal costs,etc,etc......and your supposed to make a living out of whats left?? Dont want to put anyone off but you must cost it out first if you intend to make it a viable business........been there got the t shirt!

No engine/gearbox/interior. If your interested give me a shout 01293-532619 Theres also a black XR4i up for grabs if anyones interested,g/box out, been standing for years(in workshop),open to offers?.....2.8 v6 into 100e.....now theres an idea!!!

Get yourself a cheap(ish) new welder and have a go.If your only going to weld sheet metal(panels ect)then you may find thats all you need. Second hand welders sound a good idea but if its faulty you may be blaming your lack of skill for the crap welding when its not you thats at fault. The more expensive units (£300-£600)will give you a much wider range of welding and are nicer to weld with(better hand set, wider range of amp control, etc) I bought a £600 unit 20 years ago and its still going strong today,I also bought a £180 a couple of years ago for use at work and that handles small jobs (panels) fine. Cheapish welder. The dogs daggle!

Dont let him string you along...you dont want his"mates"repairing your car on the cheap!!You tell him that your not happy with the situation and want it repaired by an independent repairer to a high standard. You owe this guy nothing......he's f~cked up and now has to pay the price, you better get in there before he gets the sack and they deny he even worked there!! Had simular happen to me so have a hard line on this subject.

I did this with my first car(anglia 105e)to get all my bike parts in(frame/wheels/forks,etc!) to shift them around to various shops....worked for me until I bought a mk1 escort van
