ARCH3D_E5CY, This may sound dum,but I admit I have done this. Check that the fuel pipe is connected to the correct pipe,by mistake I have fitted this pipe to the breather pipe which floods big time.....just a thought

Can you tell me what carbs you have,as in what bike they are off? Any pics of them on the engine, like to see what angle they are sitting at. Depending on how old theses carbs are you may have wear on the float shut off valves which will let fuel through even when the float bowl is full. The same problem can come from dirt on these valves, only needs a small grain of dirt to cause problems...been working on jap 4 engines for over 20 years and the carbs are usually very reliable but they must be clean.Take the float bowls off and check to see if they are minty clean inside,no brown deposits from old fuel and pull the floats off and check the valves.Worth making up a small gravity feed fuel tank(a tin with a pipe on it!)and plug it in to see if it still floods before you bolt it all back on your engine. If everything is ok you must balance the 4 carbs, gauges can be expensive but worth it to get it to run nice at low revs. One other thing to look out for,if the bowl and jets are covered inside with the brown deposits then more than likely your slow running jets will be blocked, remove them to inspect but if bad you will need to replace. The holes in these are very small and any build up makes a big differance to the running. Shame you not closer,Id of popped round to suss it out

First Mk1 Escort was in 1976, a 1969 1300 van,and that was after having two Anglia's. It was the next step up from an Anglia at the time,a much nicer car to drive(it had synchro on first gear!!) and handled better. Had many Mk1's over the years,Mk2's as well but I have fond memories of all of them as they have travelled with me through time, best memories being the years I raced my Mk1 Escort, six years of absolute fun....so Im abit biased and if I had to choice it would be a Mk1 Escort purely because they mean so much more to me than just the inflated price tag they place on them these days.

Looks like its got Mirror Flake sprayed over the blue base colour, not a bad job either.I used to spray this stuff on bikes and scooters in the 80's and its a lot of labour(and cost) to get that flat finish on a flake job. Not the sort of paint job I would go for but at least it looks clean and shiney -
V8in,reminds me of a problem I once had, long story but when I striped the engine down I found the previous owner had fitted the crank thrust bearings the wrong way round (white metal facing block!),totalled the crank and block.

Think Automotive or Goodridge, both very good suppliers and very helpfull. Its so simple to make up the hose sets, they bolt together! Ive always found it best to buy a length of hose and cut it to size on the car,in fact order a bit more than you need(its the cheapist part!) as you will be suprised how quick it goes when you take the neatist routes so it looks good when your done. Also cover the braided hose with either a clear covering or ,what I prefer, heat shrink wrap. This stops the braid from chaffing away anything it touches. Choice of fittings is either plated(read will rust!) or stainless steel(the best but expensive),never ever fit alloy fittings, they corrode and snap. The choice is yours, but do try doing it by buying the hose and fittings and making it yourself,it is so simple to do. Good Luck

KIN'ELL, I want a drive of that!!!!!

Placeborick, This gives you your camber angle, helps the steering to self centre after youve turned a corner and keeps the car stable at speed...you need it!

Glad to hear you didnt have to fight to keep the capri and cash sounds good. -
would these wheels suit my xpack . opinions please
v6pop replied to xpackken's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Got to go for those,in my mind they will be cheap at even £150 but I bet they go for more. -
Theres something about the 3.0 Litre lump that I just love, lazy torque, solid as a rock, and the look of the earlier capri goes with it.....proper capri!

sporty-corty16v, If you wanted to run a T piece on the axle and seperate pipes into each slave cylinder then you can.You will need to fit another bleed nipple into the vacant hole in the right hand(near side) cylinder.

Mk2stu, If you just want to demist your screen and not bother with a bulky heater then this might help if your stuck for room. You will perhaps need to modify it and fit a hose to run up to the vent holes as this one is shown on a fibreglass flat panel. NEW!! DEMIST HEATER/FAN SVA requires effective demisting. Now you can have it without the hassle of plumbing-in a heater from your engine. This little unit has an electric fan with a 168 watt 12 volt heater element. Swivel base/mounting bracket and switch. Simply mount beneath a cut out in your dash top. Perfect for sevens and all open top sportscars. Size 65mm (2 ½ in) x 193mm (7 ½ in) x 87mm (3 ½ in) PRICE £22.00 each + P & P Car Builders Solutions,Redlands, Lindridge Lane, Staplehurst, Kent TN12 0JJ, United Kingdom Tel: 01580 891309 | Fax: 01580 893733 |www.nfauto.co.uk

Coilovers and single leaf springs??? Any pics of this setup on your car.
-
I wish I had thought of that first
-
Ok....the lowering blocks,do they locate onto a raised peg on the spring? This location point is critical as it positions the axle correctly.
-
It sounds like you have two different spring rates?? (second hand parts?) The softer one will allow the car to sit lower, closer to the bump stop. Are both leaf springs the same thickness and overall length??
