I'm sure there is a sit-com just waiting to happen based on owners club get togethers.

I went to the Uxbridge Auto show on Sunday and I couldn't help but chuckle at some of the "characters" that were on the various stands (well more a case of under awnings but you know what I mean).

There were an awfull lot of trousers three inches short of of their owners ankles together with some very dodgy jumpers about, not to mention far too much facial hair than any man, or doris, should be sporting!

Also there were a couple of rival Granada owners clubs located next to each other, and I kept thinking of the Life of Brian "splitter" scene!

I couldn't help but eavesdrop on some of the converstaions that went along the lines of "I think you'll find that they discontinued that shade of beige for the interior of the Morris Marina in July 1972".

I visited my own owners club stand (yep I'm a fully paid up member of the 105E oc and proud of it!) and it was like a scene from a western when a stranger enters the saloon and the piano player stops playing and that old bloke with a limp and a squint rushes out to get the Sherriff!

Still what would we do without them....struggle for parts for a start!

Mind you there was one club stand there that had my handwriting all over it......anyone know how I go about joining the "DEADBEATS"?

That would be Derek and Pam then, one of life's natural double acts!!

Yep.....in fairness I met Derek at the Breakspeare arms last month and he was as nice as pie, and very welcoming, but some of the other members looked at me as though I was about to rob them!

i was admiring the hearse on one of the Granada stands. seems that not all Granny owners agree with the hearse being used as a daily car and sporting the "Keep Your Granny Alive" sticker. i was caught in the middle of a "mass debate" on the political correctness thing.

made me smile
