Ive just got one from the Council its Local to my house so I can have the Escort nearer to me than it being in my Dads garage.

Anyway how do you guys make yours more secure??

At the moment its only got the standard garage door turn lock in the middle of the door.

get some slide bolts for the sides of the door mate and some decent padlocks for them. if there is only the centre lock then your garage could be got into in about 3 seconds, i know because i got into mine before when it had no locks. fit the slide bolts near the bottom of the door and it should be ok.

by slide bolt i mean something like this, it could be welded in place.

Going to chain the cross member to the deck. lol

I still might get a slide bolt for the top of the garage door with those security bolts and a protected padlock.

The car itself is imobilised with power and fuel and she now has an Alarm any other suggestions?? If there are any short of living in it and a 24hr security dog.

Problem is its rather enclosed were I live so I'd imagine alot of people already know what Ive got

Fit all the above locks on the door next to yours :? any thiefs will think the owner has something worth nicking & leave yours alone :mrgreen::lol:

Thought had crossed my mind that the more security on the door the more likely it is that they would try to get in to see whats going on.

Brace the frame! they are usually held to the posts/wall by a few screws, i brace mine to the centre pillars with 2 fence posts

Locks that go to the floor are better than those that go into the frame :)

I used to work for a garge company removing dumped cars and clearing unused garages and no matter how good the locks a swft kick will 9 times out of 10 make the whole lot fall into the garage, door, frame (still locked and shut) an all

we've sunk a bit of square pipe vertically into the ground here, all concreted in, then got another to go into it, but the inside one sticks out 8 inches from the ground, it's held down with a secure padlock.

dead easy, and it's pretty good visually too
