alright peeps. i've got a big valve head for my x/flow which has been ported. how do i go about porting the inlet manifold to suite? or can i buy one? :?

Bolt it to the head and dowel it at the same time.

and then port away. Its very easy to remove metal as they are alloy, so go carefully.

You want one end to match your head and the other to match the carb. So when the manifold is bolted to the head its like one continous port.

Or take it to any good engine builder and they should be able to do it for you for very little money as its not a difficult job

i just used a sanding dowel that fits on a drill then finished off with wd40 and wet n dry dont do your inlet manifold larger than the head it will make it run worse if any thing it wants to be slightly smaller than the ports on the head

i dont know if thats its correct name

its like a drill bit at one end (so it fits in your drill) then you can either get thm with stone type stuff on the end(like the sort of stuff you sharpen a knife with) or with like flaps of emery paper on (these come in different bore sizes )

Start with a tungsten burr (on ebay for about £6), and then finish with a flap-wheel.

The burr cuts through Cast iron and ally like butter (so be careful) but it will be 100 times quicker than using a stone.

Then finish with a flap-wheel to take the marks out & polish it.
