Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 whats the average bhp of a standard 1.6 pinto ive got three different figures 72bhp 88bhp 93bhp what do you think
bomber1 Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 72 or 88 tbh think the 2ltr was around the 100 ish mark
fezza Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Not sure but i would say out of the 3 88bhp sounds the most realistic
over_head_cam Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 They are probably all correct for differnt models/spec
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 the 93bhp figure was from a mk2 mexico ive looked about a bit and mine should be round the 90bhp mark will have to get it tested one day but id rather spend money on other mods when i get a 2.0 in it will get it on the rolling road
Copey Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 the 2.0 in a capri is 98, think the 1.6 is 75-78
sarkie83 Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 73 with the VV, 90 with the Webber according to Ford in 1982 for the Cortina
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 mines weber but if weber is added (to replace a vv)is the other engine spec different
bortaf Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 As sarkie says 73 standard, 90 GT/Ghia spec, thats for Mk5 cortina/Mk3 capri, earlyer cars where down a bit due to locked fan (about 3BHP). 2.0 is 101 on the Mk5/Mk3, 98 on the Mk4/Mk2 (again -3 BHP with a fixed fan)
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 whats different to the ghia/gt spec is it just the carb and exhaust or is there other differences
Seals2 Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 a 1.6 is 93bhp @ 5750rpm (mex) a 2.0 is 108bhp @ 5500rpm (rs)
bortaf Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 On the 1.6 the GT/S/mexico (Mk2) head is a one off (basicly a 2.0 head with 1.6 sized combustion chambers) it uses a 2.0 cam, twin choke webber, a tubular Ex manifold and a different dist to the normal 1.6 (different advance curve), same bottom end though
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 whats the best dizzy to get how do you tell the difference if offered one with a different advance curve
bortaf Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 They have paint blobs on the body denoting the aplication This is from the cortina factory manual, they are colour coded with a paint spot to ID what dist is what. 1.3 LC 1V green 1.3 HC 1V red/green 1.6 LC 1V yellow/purple 1.6 HC 1V red/purple 1.6 HC 2V blue/yellow 2.0 HC 2V yellow/green Advance stats http://buysellcortina.co.uk/forums/uplo ... _thumb.jpg
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 ill try see what mine is knowing my luck paint will ave rubbed off
