Hi all.

Over the winter, I want to get my strut tops cut out and replaced. Along with two new wings and a front panel.

How hard is it to replace strut tops? Does it require total removal of the shocks and springs etc? Or can they be left in situe? I would like to do the work, but i dont know how i would go about it.

I've asked Gary to get back to me with a price for doing this, I've seen his work before and I'd like him to do the work if I can afford to.

Any advice guys? :)

Thanks

Jon

shame that , it looked a nice buy when you bought it

as youve said earlier , leave it to the experts

I bought the car knowing this work would need to be done, no suprises (yet!!!)

There is nothing that NEEDS doing on the car, but this is just annoying me and i want to get the struts sorted out.

By the looks of things the previous owner has just welded over the rust!!!

Been readung an old classic ford mag - doesnt look THAT hard to replace the strut tops, am i wrong ? :D !!! lol

Yeah you'd have to have the struts out, thats not difficult tho.

Don't really know how hard it is to replace them but its a pretty common repair on osf's me thinks!

The classic ford mag appears to have done them with the struts unbolted, but still in situe!

I was just following the pictures though! :D

Deffo recommend removing the struts if you want a proper job doing.

You could then get a proper look at the pan and supports to see if these are solid.

Once the repairs are done you could waxoyl/paint underneath (pans and support area) so repairs will be in good order and last a lot longer.

You could also refurb the struts while they are off - just an idea.

Depends how far you want to go.

You could go on forever so its up to you how far you want to go!
