bashmk1 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 hey guys. im gonna be putting some new rubber on my wheels, there 5 x 13 inch steels. anyone recommend a tyre size for that wheel, i dont give want a massive sidewall. someone said 185/60/13's but that sounds big to me. any help would be great.
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 60 isnt too bad but get 50s if you want a lower side wall but youre only going on a 13" rim so might look really small in your arches
Mk 1 Mark Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Bash 185/60/13 A539 yokohama £31 a corner. . You could go 170/50/13 for the South london look,(Not sure they will fit?) But 185 are they way to go and you can get so very good and cheap tyres in that size imho
Admin Vista Posted July 25, 2007 Admin Report Posted July 25, 2007 according to my sources, a 175/50/13 is safe to fit on rim sizes from 5 to 6.5J

Burns Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 a quick (and perhaps stupid) question, why would you want to fit skinny tyres eg. 170's on a 7" rim? does it give better grip or something?

We do a similar thing with our roundy-roundy race cars. It makes the sidewall stiffer and gives less tyre roll and better grip, particularly in the wet.
razersedge Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 i.ve got 185 60's on my 5.5 mex rims and they look like they were made for the job so 175 60 should be perfect for them
