caprilaser Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Does anyone know an OSF friendly MOT place in Southport? I should have my MK1 capri road legal after the weekend and I need to get it MOT'd as my MK3 has died!!! I know a few places have started gettitng picky when it comes to older cars due to the new style MOT and my car is pretty basic ie no interior and just the drivers seat as i've not got enough time or money to get it 100% finished in time. Cheers
Copey Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 ther is this place in Blackpool, he is in the Coastal Capri Club, names Gordon, they all take ther cars to him, he is understanding about things, and from what i hear wont fail unless it is actually dangerour, will just give you a list of things that need doing. so do you live in SP?? wouldnt mind a look at the mk1 as i live in Southport
caprilaser Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 cheers, hopefully I'll have it on the road next week, due to lack of funds its had to be painted matt black but it looks pretty mean with the rs/gxl quad lights and cologne arches it, when I get the fund I'm gonna get it sprayed properly! Aint seen another capri in southport for a while, how long you had yours?
Copey Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 bout 5 months i think, its used everyday too, most the time it will be in tesco or morrisons car park, as i work in tesco and whenever i go to town i park in morrisons
caprilaser Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 might give the place in Blackpool a ring if theres no where closer, just worried that I might get pulled over or break down on the way as I'll have no MOT or Tax as its been off the road for a year, it would be insured so it should be ok as long as its booked in for the MOT.
Copey Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 i will contact matt and get his number for you

Copey Posted August 4, 2007 Report Posted August 4, 2007 I'm not going to be able to make it to woodvale this year unfortunatly, when and where do the costal capri guys meet up, I'll prob pop down once my cars on the road. the Pub is called the Blue Bell its in Halsall 2nd sunday of each month at about 2pm, if you dont know where it is we can meet up and you can follow me ther
Copey Posted August 5, 2007 Report Posted August 5, 2007 the bloke in blackpool doesnt do MOT's, plus Matt mentioned the good point of "if it has a dangerour fault then its stuck in Blackpool" i think it would be best to go around and ask various garages, my dads friend who works for BMW MOT's mine and does any work i cant do myself, so i cant really recomend any garages in Southport, sorry
caprilaser Posted August 6, 2007 Author Report Posted August 6, 2007 cheers for the info, ill be up for coming to the next costal capri meet. Booked it into Wilson Healy garage in high park for Friday, I have taken my other capri there in the past and they seem ok but pricey. In two minds whether to take it somewhere cheap and rough lookin or pay the price for a decent garage that will no doubt find faults!!
