Gareth Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 In my Escort... Smells of oil on start up, then just blows out blue grey smoke on idle, but not oil, jus smells of strong burnt petrol... Anyone make any sense of this I've been told valve stem seals, or could it be that it needs a damn good setting up It was on a rolling road before I got it, but the company that rollered it only replaced one plug..... None of the others were gapped properly, the electrodes were touching on one Any help would be greatly appreciated
escort21 Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 If it does it on start up then i'd say stem seals, usually smokes on the overrun as well,do the stem seals. If it was overfuelling the smoke would be dark. Could be worn bores if it does it all the time or a dodgy ring
Mart Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 sounds a bit like seals to me but its not an expensive repair i've only done em on my old RS1600i but it was a nice easy job shouldnt think pinto will be any harder
