School boy1 Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 As Escorts are so popular for motorsport and tuning, is it possible to buy a brand new shell? If so, could you make a brand new car from all new bits produced from specialist companies and parts that already exist? Cheers, SchoolBoy
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 dont think youll get a brand new shell now not unless someone has one hidden away somwhere
davreeve Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 most of us would sell our grandmothers for a new shell lol.
bronze4door Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 i heard that some one was thinking of making new fibreglass ones but i dont know if they actually did
School boy1 Posted August 28, 2007 Author Report Posted August 28, 2007 Bugger. I was hoping that I would be able to build one when I was older. So once they are gone, they are gone
escort21 Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 And even pants shells will be silly money
spooner Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 there was a brand new shell for sale on a ford site last year, but the admin locked the post so no one could see it
School boy1 Posted August 28, 2007 Author Report Posted August 28, 2007 There must be enough interest for one of these companies to make new ones? There is this one company that build Mini, MG and Jag shells, so there is hope
GT_Jim Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 There must be enough interest for one of these companies to make new ones? There is this one company that build Mini, MG and Jag shells, so there is hope id rather reshell a mk2 than a shady mgb
Burns Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 i've heard that the problem is that mg kept all of the tools to make the shells, whereas ford destroyed all of theirs, means that if someone were to reproduce the shells, they'd have to start from scratch
antz Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 i've heard that the problem is that mg kept all of the tools to make the shells, whereas ford destroyed all of theirs, means that if someone were to reproduce the shells, they'd have to start from scratch i heard that too....somethign about one of the big guys who worked there ordering destruction of al the presses cos as far as he was concerned he never wnated to see another mk2 escy again
School boy1 Posted August 28, 2007 Author Report Posted August 28, 2007 What a bloody idiot. I bet he felt stupid when he saw what the Mk3 looked like.
