kirk10 Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 you have to take the good with the bad and this year its had more bad than good the weather really makes it quite if its raining and so on as people just doing seem to care about there car then lol its when the suns out and there cleaning it they notice stuff and deside to have it done but yes best day ive had is about 430 quid just depends on the jobs and phone calls mate and the water based paint now is really good for colour match silvers can still be a bit tricky but better than the solvent paint ever was any way good luck with it mate
Copey Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 shame you cant get one of them dulux paint matcher scanner things but for cars, could use it to scan the existing paint and then get all the codes and mix amounts to make the paint, would make life a lot easier
flyingbanana Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 shame you cant get one of them dulux paint matcher scanner things but for cars, could use it to scan the existing paint and then get all the codes and mix amounts to make the paint, would make life a lot easier i believe there is a co that does it....unfortunate i never got the details for the co
kirk10 Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 at the mo you just get the paint code off the car punch it into the laptop paint scheme which ever 1 you have then it brings up a list and tells you how many shades of that colour there is ,and how much weight of each tinter to use , i always go for the standerd shade and 9 times out of 10 its good if its an older car then its best to mop polish the panel next to were your going to paint so to get the paint back to its original colour but silver are a fookin night mare bit better since the water based come out tho
xpackken Posted September 4, 2007 Author Report Posted September 4, 2007 dont have a cvlue what you guys are talking bout now but yeah kirk i allways use standard shade you cant realy go wrong then . im using leckler system or ppg will see the price difference first . i love the waterbase mate iv allways used it so solvent is more of a stranger to me now i find that the drop coat blends the waterbase out sweetly not used it much on the road thou i imagine its not to bad just use a heat gun and plenty of rocket in ya laquer should make up the time what system are you using mate . _________________ Honda CHF50
kirk10 Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 leckler with hs clear coat none iso i use a hair dryer tho i found a heat gun gets it to hot
flyingbanana Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 bit of advice if poss...ive got alot of chips in the paint work mainley edges...whats the best way to sort it....lots of builder primmer?
kirk10 Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 light sand to take the edges of then get an artists brush and run the brush down the edge let it dry do it again untill you have got the right build then clean brush and run some laquer down it on the brudh again same aplys to bonnet chips just keep dabbing the chips in but this time use the wooden end of the paint brush it will be easyer to do and leave a nice bobble of paint in the chip when fry a dab of laquer then when thats dry g3 it up some colours work better than others with that method but if your painting the car forget all that lol and just sand them down
flyingbanana Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 cheers mate .....looks like ill be there a while got a few to do ...then whole respray
kirk10 Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 if your spraying the car just sand them out mate then couple of coats of hi build primer i recomend green ti filla primer
