ZetecVan 2.0 Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 As a general guide: 1.8 zetec flywheel redrilled to accept a pinto clutch A pinto clutch cover Clutch plate depends on what gearbox (Type 9/2000E) Sump and oil pick up pipe Water rail Engine mounts All the above can be bought from Retro Ford Spigot bearing for the end of the crank (Get this from Burton. It's cheaper) Starter motor from a DOHC granny (got mine from Halfords) 1.8 water pump & pulley (got mine from Ford. The cheap parts caused problems) Then you'll need all the bits from the car it came from: Engine Injectors Sensors ECU - You need a particular type of ECU that didn't have the immobiliser (PATS system). You'll have to google it, as I don't know which to get. I may have forgotten something, but that covers just about everything).
mossy Posted September 28, 2007 Author Report Posted September 28, 2007 Ta very much....just considering engine choice if i do decide to get this car at the weekend
pauln Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 ECU i'm using is a BLOB which is a non pats 93 (I think it's the 1.8 115ps manual mondeo one). Mondeo ecus have the ign control built in (but the auto one has edis). Best way to do it is buy a complete pre mid 94 mondeo as a doner. If using a type 9 you can use the cvh/dohc clutch and file the holes to fit (sounds awful but there's no balance problems on mine). You are welcome to pm me for info on my cortina conversion. If you buy a doner mondeo and make your own conversion bits you can easily do it for less than £500 (I bought bits peacemeal and came in under £700).
